I agree that it's a strange arrangement, and I bet that's why there aren't more like it. Every time you wanted something from a side cubby you would have to unlock it to open the door, and on one side even lean under a shelf. I didn't get any keys. Somebody had tried to drill one of the locks...

I picked it up last Monday. $75 and it had a couple handfuls of Craftsman wrenches and sockets in it. Any JC Penney boxes I've found pictures of look very much like rebranded Kennedys, and I haven't found a Kennedy box that looks like this. It is a heavy, sturdy box, and will fit my needs...

I dug in this a little more this morning. 29" overall width. The top box is a little rusty but should clean up and function fine. Here is a picture of the guides. There is an extra cabinet-side guide that makes it look like a six-drawer version of the same top box would have been available...

I recently gave $75 for a JC Penney roll-away and top box in central Texas. The condition is probably a little worse than yours.

Make sure the centrifugal switch is functioning correctly. It's pretty easy for something to happen that keeps it from making contact; a little dirt, something bent, lost a part of it... Good Luck! Jeff

Can anybody give me the maker of this JC Penney set? Both ends of the roller have peg-hole cubbies. The cabinet color is kind of a silvery-blue, and the drawers are crinkle black with red plastic over the pulls. The top box has plastic inserts on the sides, which seem out of place on what...

I paid $150. There are some scratches and dents, but no appreciable rust and everything works well. I started putting stuff in it this evening - filling up pretty quickly!

Have you thoroughly verified that the motor isn't dual-voltage? My 17" Delta has its original 1hp, 3ph motor wired 220V from a VFD. Great set-up! Jeff
