How can some of you guys tolerate a cluttered shop?

Hahah, this is amazing. Did you develop any other neurotic tendencies because your industry? You should post an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit, that's a really interesting background.

How can some of you guys tolerate a cluttered shop?

^^Beautiful! Huh? What I meant was that I wash only stuff that doesn't have moving parts and the appropriate stuff gets wiped lanolin. Sorry if the title seems hostile, I meant it in a casual way. Having worked in a place where everything was labeled, push-through commercial dishwasher and...

When the feeling hits me in the right way, I enjoy it with pina coladas and assless chaps.

I save a ton of space this way. You're right about it being a little annoying to pop off the lids. I have baking sheet racks I just put them in though without lids, slide it out if I need it. I'll get a pic in a few.

Also: Shoutout to deli containers. Washable, clear, sturdy as hell. The restaurant industry uses deli pint & quart containers for a lot of their storage, pretty much standard practice -- I recommend these things for fastener/parts storage. It's like ..~$10?? for pack of 100.

How can some of you guys tolerate a cluttered shop?

Apologies if it sounds like I'm harping on the guys with the messy workspace -- I don't mean it that way! I get so grouchy and stressed out at the sight of a dusty and untidy shop space that I can't enjoy myself at all. How do you guys do it? My background is cooking so I guess I'm just...

    Kitchen in the cave

Yeah, I can attest to the fact that restaraunts kitchens do, in fact, use tool cabinets. I've never seen a cook use them as part of their mise en place, they usually cut a bakery cooling rack in half and stick it under their table and use sheet pans as drawers. It's just a communal chest for...

    Welding Jigs, Holdfasts

Eep, I've neglected my thread, sorry! I used my acetylene torch with a compass attachment, it wasn't too bad at all. I'm going to experiment with holes just 1/32" larger than the holdfast, filing a larger hole until I get a slant that will hold. Ah, there we go, that makes a lot of sense now.

How do you stop rust on shop eqpt??

I personally use beeswax thinned with mineral spirits. Makes great shoe polish too.

    Welding Jigs, Holdfasts

Well, there goes my theory. What are CANOpen controlled clamps by the way?

    Welding Jigs, Holdfasts

I'm not sure I understand you, are you saying that tacking is pretty much an equivalent of clamping in woodworking?

    Welding Jigs, Holdfasts

Yes. Aren't those tables 2 grand though? Maybe woodworking tables are just so cheap and easily flattened/planed that it's much easier. Another clamping thing. It's pretty clever.
