Another thought. What's the abuse part? The impact anvil hammering the inside of the socket? So how about using a chrome extension on the impact? The socket has chrome to chrome contact and the extension takes the abuse. Or is that still abuse to the socket? (Excluding high torque situations)...

So using common hand tools in the fashion they were designed for by the tool manufacturer is the poster child for tool abuse? Yes I'm being a little obtuse but that is kind of the point. Most tools are "abused" in some fashion. Why make a 14mm or 15mm 1/4" drive socket? That poor little 1/4"...

I guess I should also mention that I'm not suggesting or advocating chrome socket/impact wrench use for high torque retainers. Really it's about using say a 10mm chrome on a 3/8" drive battery impact to remove 16 oil pan bolts that were only torqued to 20lbft but for speed/efficiency that is...
