Bad experience with NOCO GB-40 in cold weather

As a follow-up test after yesterday's problem, I put the unit I brought back home with me in the chest freezer overnight (0F to 5F). This morning, I pulled it out of the freezer and attempted to crank my wife's Honda CRV with the battery disconnected. Unit was in override mode. It provided...

Agreed. I replaced the battery today.

Bad experience with NOCO GB-40 in cold weather

Temp was 10F, not what I would call balmy. I did replace her battery today, but the battery condition isn't what this post is about. When I bought her the GB40s, I tested them by jumping same truck, in override mode, with the battery disconnected. Passed test with no issues at all. I expect a...

Bad experience with NOCO GB-40 in cold weather

We did try both units in manual override, still didn't work. I brought one unit back home with me and plugged it in to charge. It wouldn't charge, the red error light came on. I then warmed in front of gas logs and tried again to charge. This time it started charging and showed a full charge...

Bad experience with NOCO GB-40 in cold weather

It's 10 degrees in N Alabama this morning and my daughter called at 4:30 AM and said her truck wouldn't start. She has a NOCO GB40 in both truck and car and tried them both on the Tundra. Neither would start it. They just cycled thru the lights and never lit the boost light. I drove over and...

I looked at disconnects before but they had a warning not to switch off under load because they could arc. I didn't know switches like this Moeller existed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I couldn't read the part number, but going by the picture, the Moeller website says that switch is also considered a disconnect. If so, is that sufficient to protect equipment from storm/lightning related electrical surges when turned off? I usually unplug my equipment at night but that really...

My current walking foot is a Sailrite LSZ-1.The 1508N will be such a huge improvement over it that I never really though much about going even heavier. I've sewn for a few years, but never any upholstery. The new machine will be for both furniture and auto upholstery projects I have in mind...

1508NS is what Juki is now calling the 1508N. My guess is when they added the safety clutch to the 1541 (making the 1541S), they added the S to the 1508N name for consistency. The 1508N already had the safety clutch.

Which servo motor and positioner is your favorite? Can you disable the positioner if you don't like it? I'm about to order a Juki LU-1508NS and still need to pick the motor for it. I have a Family FESM-550S on a Juki DDL-5550N. That motor works fine but a positioner might be fun to try on the...

Thanks. That was the last piece needed, I hope, for parts order to build a prototype with a single 4" and 6" gate. Decided to try Automation Direct's Click PLC. Besides being cheaper than Direct Logic 06, the software for it is free. The Direct Logic software is $395. Sent from my iPhone using...

For the solenoid valves used with the pneumatic cylinders , did you go with a 2-way or 3-way (center closed)? Part # would be great. Thanks!

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

Last week I hooked the 8 ft trailer to the truck and used it to move a dog pen from a house we are selling. It was late when we got back so left the trailer in the driveway still hooked to the truck. Usually the small trailer is parked right next to the 16 ft trailer in front of the shop. Next...

Removing screw on Utica 90 adjustable wrenches

I've recently acquired Utica 90-12 and 90-6 adjustable wrenches. Both need to be disassembled for cleaning. I can't figure out how to remove the screw that holds the worm screw in place. It will easily turn for a few revs but no further. Can anybody tell the trick to this? Thanks!
