I still have a few Makita 9.6v tools around from early 90's. I still use the drills for light duty stuff like pilot bits for wood working, putting up blinds and curtain rods for the wife, ect. I bought a few no name batts off ebay a few years ago. They were cheap, around 25 bucks for 2 batts...

+1 go high end. Worth the extra $$. Ive had good luck with insinkerator, avail at HD. Go with the higher end model.

I've been searching for an end locker all week. Finally found one today after going to 6 different stores. The store manager said they're discontinued.If you can find a store that still has a floor model, they will discount it 20%.
