    32x22 garage

It has been a while since we last tore down a garage.... Bessy had some very good points about running real electrical & gas connections. I know the gas furnace in my prior garage made winter workdays so much better. Plus having a 220v subpanel to run lift, air compressor, and welding equipment...

    Drill press new or old.

I do agree that the 15" Atlas drill presses aren't "industrial" machines, I was able to punch some 1" holes in aluminum plate, but that maxed out my Atlas with low speed pulley. Beautiful machines for a home shop though

    Drill press new or old.

I disagree about Walker-Turner being weekend warrior material, they built some fantastic drill presses. I just finished up the restoration and VFD conversion on my WT. Setup with the VFD I have spindle speeds from 30 rpm up to ~2000 rpm, have powered spindle brake, instant reverse for tapping or...

    Desktop CNC mill/router?

I have a desktop 200 x 300 mm cnc router that I picked up on trade. It does an okay job with soft wood and MDF type products, it is nowhere near stout enough to take on a job such as those aluminum brackets. Depending on the quantity that you want to produce you could look into using a jig saw...

Help removing the quill and handle from this Atlas Drill Press

Even with the various set screws, collars, and pins removed the pinion shaft may require some significant persuasion so don't be discouraged if it doesn't slide out freely.

Is there really any difference in engine oils?

There ARE significant differences between engine oils and those differences do matter. As others have mentioned above there are two basics components in every engine oil; the base stock, and the additive package. The base stock is the what differentiates conventional oils from the synthetics...

Who all took advantage of lowes/ homedepot paint rebate?

Interesting, I just checked and all my paperwork had May 31st as the deadline. My rebate still went through so I'm not going to complain.

Who all took advantage of lowes/ homedepot paint rebate?

I bought 8 gallons of qualifying paint and submitted the online rebate on June 1st. I didn't notice until too late the forms stated May 31st as the rebate submission deadline. Just checked the rebate status and I was approved; however, I would recommend submitting your rebates ASAP if you...

Single flare tool for -AN lines

I never tried aluminum in the cheap sets, they may work alright for that if you want to save $70ish.

Single flare tool for -AN lines

I was going to suggest the Ridgid linked above. As you mentioned the cheap ones are terrible. The line clamps slip preventing a full flare and the conical die that does the flaring is far too soft for mild steel not to mention stainless. A cheap set will get you through a single car's worth of...
