TRADE: my extras for your extras (craftsman metric sockets).

The other night I cleaned out my spare tool box to make room for SAE tools for the first time in my life (just bought my first muscle car, always had German cars), anyway while doing so I started to organize my "extra sockets." I have a few sets of sockets in my main box. Then I have the random...

Lift or Ramp solution for loading dock door?

Hey, We are building a shop that has 3 loading docks. It's a race shop, so our only real need is to bring cars in and out. I have seen dock elevators that would work in the past, but don't know anything about them. Can anyone shed some light? -BS

    Wall mount tire rack

I have the TIRE RACK version and I am quite happy with it. It went up simply and seems rather secure (although I do have safety straps tying it to joists, just incase. It does sit over my 911). It's also adjustable for width which is nice.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Gearbanger's Shop Project

This looks amazing! This is exactly how I would do my garage if I owned it instead of rented it.

    Sleepless nights

I travel a lot, so my sleep habits are all screwed up. Melatonin helps without the hung over feeling Ambien brings with it. That said, I usually will just read GJ til I get sleepy... Like right now.

    Go-Jaks Storage Ideas?

When I was living NY, I had a 2 car garage with a 1 car door, so GoJaks were a MUST. In my new garage, I don't need them as much, but still like them handy for moving around my project car. But storing them *****. I know GoJak makes a floor roller that hold the 4 jacks upright, but it takes up...

Storage For Engine Hoist And Stand

I used to hang my engine stand against the wall high up, so the wheels sat against the wall and the upright ran along the roof. To be safe I strapped it too the roof so just in case the wall hooks ever pulled out of the cinder blocks.

    Newbie with wood cutting/building questions.

I would agree with this if you are working on a budget, but if you have the means, it may be better to just buy a good tool once. For a circular saw I would recommend a Porter Cable, Milwaukee or Makita only because I have used all of these brands before. My favorite was the Porter Cable, not...

    Let's see your color schemes

This looks GREAT! I've been leaning towards the black and blue route. Maybe I'll add a touch of orange as an homage to the Gulf livery. Oh and light gray walls (semi gloss to promote light reflection)
