    Gary, I agree with everything you said...except the purge part...without knowing what he is welding...I have welded on some 4130 chassis, that purge was necessary...and you can't do this without purge either..:) (316L Stainless, one pass) Welding is how I make a Living.

    Wow, welding gasses aint cheap, what pressure do I need

    Big tanks are 2250psi max...avg I get them on occasion to 2400psi. I haven't run a small one in years...but I think they were 1800-2000 psi also... Inside with no breeze you can run 15-20 cfh. that is about as low as you would want to go.
