I've set up a small work area, beats working on the floor! I also terminated the three PEX stub outs into the sink and two spigots, and connected the sink drain. Feels civilized having running water. Lots of stuff competing for the next big spend. Debating between a fence and gate for the...

Panels have been swapped and the building is now complete! They did replace the hat channels (I didn't ask), so that's nice. I think it looks much better, what do you think? Our tractor finally has a parking spot :) Also got a sink so we have somewhere to wash up. I've done a...

Thanks, I would love to be wrong as I really don't want all the sheet metal ripped off and redone. The roof and trim is already enough. I guess we'll find out when the new paneling comes in. 10-4 on the hat channels, I think it's better to keep the fresh/solid connections to the main...

Here is one: https://cscmachine.com/frequently-asked-questions/ "For Tuff-Rib, Classic-Rib, Ag Panel, the gauge is normally 29 gauge. The thickness of 29 gauge, according to the AISI Tolerance Ranges for Galvanized Steel Sheets is .0142”-.0202”, average .0172”." "For R-Panel, PBR panel, the...

They are insisting 26 gauge is on there. I asked that when they bring the replacement gray panels, show me the invoice saying 26 gauge, and we'll measure. If it measures the same I'll drop the issue. I tend to believe they did order 26, but their vendor cheaped out on the thickness. Not sure...

Paneling went on and the building is complete except for the long lead front door. I do have some issues though. Firstly, they used black instead of the gray in the contract. Secondly, I paid for 26 awg but the panels are measuring to 0.017". From what I'm reading online, this appears to be...

Steel roofing overhang soffit - issue with gutters?

You could use C clamps to clamp a 1x4 as a spacer, and then sawzall the excess overhang off. You still want a little overhang; if it's flush, water will drip down onto your railing instead of go into the gutter. The alternative would be to have the gutter company build or use some brackets as...

I have a few quotes, it's $8k just for the side fence (about $10/ft). And that's with wood H braces (ie, augered holes and concrete footing). It would be nice to have someone else do it for sure, just a lot of money...

Not much going on this week, we're just waiting for the long lead front door to arrive (16x12). In the mean time I might like to get some grass seed down as it's starting to green up in the rest of the property and we've really torn it up in the shop area. Just debating what kind. Locally...

Thank you! Believe me, I researched it and considered it. The problem here is with the clay soil, the geotex has to be on top of the grade, not below like you can do in ground with good drainage. The common method locally here seems to be using large stones for the base layer

Yikes! Hope that won't be an issue, they'll just be holding up the roof of the lean-to which is pretty light compared to home construction.

One other update: the building got scheduled for Tuesday! Only 4 days away. After scheduling though, they called and let me know they're short one of the roll doors. Not sure if I should just wait or let them build the shell.
