What are your thoughts on Multi-tools ?

I have the Milwaukee M12 one and it works alright. I already had some M12 stuff so I picked it up to help me floor installation. My Dad has the 3 AMP Dremel one and although it isn't cordless, I kind of like it better. It has a better feel to it and a lot more accessories. Note that the Dremel...

Snap-On cordless line vs Milwaukee 18 Fuel

My Milwaukee M12 Fuel drill came with two batteries. If you look at the box the ones that don't come with batteries will say "Tool Only", i.e. their oscillating multi-tool.

    Entry Level Technician's Toolkit

Check out Kobalt. They have a 300 piece mixed mechanics set that is actually pretty decent. I scooped it up over the summer when it was on sale for $130. I am a mechanical engineer that has to do some occasional field work and I bought them for my work tools. You'll get almost a full set of...

Where can I find the cheapest decent triple square bits?

I just recently bought the Capri Tools triple square bit set from Amazon for the same thing, VW work. They are good quality and come in a nice case. They held up and still look new after me beating on them pretty hard with a breaker bar trying to get my rear calipers off. I think they are around...

Advice for a screwdriver holder for tool bag

I'm not a big fan of tool rolls because things can still fall out. I like the Milwaukee tool pouches, that's what I have all of my "to go" stuff in.

    Tekton & Great Neck Tools

I couldn't tell you. I have a Harbor Freight in town and was planning to swing by this weekend. I'll try and open up one of their torque wrenches for comparison and let you know. I would venture to say that the Tekton are probably nicer.

    Tekton & Great Neck Tools

I have three Tekton torque wrenches, the 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive and I really like them. As far as accuracy goes I say that they are spot on. I torqued my lugnuts to 88 ft.-lbs with my Tekton wrench and then used my Dad's much more expensive Craftsman torque wrench to verify and it broke...

    Circular saws?

+1 for Diablo blades. I have them in my chop saw, table saw, and circular saw. They've all got different tooth counts and I've had no problems across the board.

    Nailgun Suggestions Needed

I would advise against the HF nail gun. I have the 16 GA finish nailer and it is junk. It jams super easy and the black rubber tip can/will leave marks on your molding. All of the molding I put in my house is white, so that was obviously a problem. Seriously? No one else advocates the...

    Nailgun Suggestions Needed

If you can swing the price tag, go with the Paslode 16 GA cordless angled finish nailer. I just finished my home remodel and I re-did EVERY SINGLE PIECE of molding in the house. I also have a small pancake compressor and HF nailer and it doesn't compare. Not only in the quality of the gun, but...

Where do you use Taps & Dies most often?

I'm a mechanical design engineer, and I call out tapped holes all day long. If you are working with tapped holes, make sure you drill the pilot with enough room for chip accumulation and to accommodate the chamfer of the tap.. A lot of people don't think about that when doing their holes.

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

True. The Armstrong's don't look bad and I can get all three sizes on Amazon for $230.

    Best Jack and Jack Stands

I apologize for my phrasing. Next time I'll go with "What jack and jack stands do you use at home that haven't failed and maimed or killed anyone in the vicinity". Much more direct.

    SK vs. Gearwrench Flex-Head Ratchets

I don't really have a handle preference. I grew up using my Dad's old SK-Wayne 3/8" set, and I have a whole collection of Kobalt smooth handle ratchets that I keep in my work tools & car set. This is for personal/ at home use. I don't turn wrenches everyday for a living. I don't nit-pick over...
