    York 150 vise restoration

One other thing. Depending on how far you want go with this, you can get new Jaws and hardware from York that still work with these old vices. In my communication with York, I ended up purchasing a set of jaws and screws that worked and fit perfectly. The Shipping cost as much as the parts...

    York 150 vise restoration

Pelletman, I think you have yourself a good find. Like many other garage journal users, I too have contacted York in the Czech Republic and have some written history of these vises. I could post the transcripts - they are interesting. Either way, I enjoy using something that pre-dates the...

Craftsman Socket eBay Purchase - Question

Thank you for the education here. I still can’t get over the spotty chrome job around the opening of the socket which you can see in the third pic. I think I’ll stick to looking for =V= only because they always seem to be well made.

Craftsman Socket eBay Purchase - Question

Woody, they were listed as New Old Stock, so they do look brand new. I’ve always had old US made craftsman sockets laying around but never any in this new of condition. So I don’t know if that is throwing me off. Jeep, thanks for the input. Makes sense.

Craftsman Socket eBay Purchase - Question

Twice now I have purchased socket sets on eBay, specifically searching for V and G date codes to ensure I buy those made in the USA. After receiving them I’m left wondering if these are newly made knock offs. Maybe I’m being too critical but surely there can’t be that many NOS sets still out...

Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

Gregaz, I saw that same ad recently but it seems like the seller was asking a lot. Instead, I opted for a 10D roller that showed up in Tucson. A bit of a drive but the price was right and didn’t mind the trip. I can’t find that ad anymore, did you end up buying it? Brad

Has anyone ever used these reducer bushings when installing new wheels on your grinder. I have a 7” and 8” block grinder and while I can find new 7” and 8” wheels, there aren’t too many 7” with a 1/2” arbor opening or 8” with a 5/8” arbor opening. I can find wheels with larger openings and...

Craftsman Block motor Bench Grinders - What's the Fuss (with resource information)

Thanks. I’m interested to see a picture. I checked it out this morning on the sears parts website and for $10 I pulled the trigger and ordered one. I had some other craftsman parts to buy so I figured what the heck. Can’t find one for less than $30 shipped on eBay.

Craftsman Block motor Bench Grinders - What's the Fuss (with resource information)

Is this an original replacement quench tray from Sears??? I thought this along with many other grinder parts are no longer available. I have two square top blocks, one with a quench tray and one without. If the original quench tray is still available I will have to buy one. Thanks to advise...

Torqueman, Bobioz, thanks again with your help with the switch. I ended up buying switch 2LNA7 from grainger which is the same as the switch you recommended just with a red throw instead of white. I like the way it looks and am glad to have rescued this grinder for $35 and all it needed was a...

let's see your craftsman block grinders

Thanks Torqueman. The switch you advise go use looks like it had one terminal coming out on the one side. Mine has two, as do some of the switches in the pics posted earlier. Are you also making changes to the connections when using this new switch?
