A little update, drywall is ready for paint in living quarters. All the lights in the shop have been hung and tested with the generator. Ended up going with T5HOs and man are they bright! Got the can lights and fans installed on the porch. Still waiting on the local REMC to get permanent...

Most of the drywall was hung today and all 3 overhead doors are now done.

Mounting light to pole barn siding

Mounting on a rib is not ideal, why not just move it 3 inches to the right or left? I just did this on my new building. You will be the only one who ever knows that it is not centered.

Best type of large insulated doors?

You most likely wont find an overhead door with R19 insulation factor. I think most typically R6 or in that area. CHI is a great overhead door company. If your truly set on R19 you are probably gonna have to build a custom door. We had done that twice in big shops when I worked construction...

Yes it has been a very wet this spring/summer. Definitely not great building conditions. All electrical was roughed in before metal went up. I put receptacles every 10 feet. I ran a home run for 2 light circuits for the ceiling and just coiled wire up where the first light will be then I will...

Now where we are now. Most of the exterior metal is on except for a little bit of the wainscoat. This due to the fact of exterior concrete to be poured. I had them put typar under the metal on the walls to prevent condensation from leaking in. They have insulated all the walls with R19, put the...

Yes it is just me and my wife for now, we are expecting now that we have started the project. This is temporary living until we build the house which should be within the next year. Then the living space will just be a man cave!

    CHI Garage Door opinion

Ive installed 7 CHI doors between my old house and shop and my new shop. They are high quality doors. I have always bought the insulated with metal on the inside and have been very happy with everyone of them.

I had decided to save on some lumber and a little on price to have them bookshelf the walls. Basically a 2 x 6 on each side at 4 foot wide and gift boards every 2 foot up. On the weight bearing walls they put 3-2x6 s between each shelf and on the non load bearing walls there are only 2...

Fast forward a couple weeks and they have poured the footer, laid the blocks, me and my dad roughed the plumbing in for living quarters, and installed 3-3’ channel drains. Then the contractor poured the concrete.

The building site was over 30” out of level after shooting with our transit. Decided this was too much for our bobcat mini and small loader tractor to handle. My buddy brought a dozer over and had the site leveled off in half a day.

Driveway install. 1000 feet with fabric underneath. Driveway is just a construction driveway, I will top it off with 8's and line it up better. Tri axle drivers of this rock were not the best at spreading rock.

Hello All, I figured I would share my build with you guys. This is all started with my wife deciding our house was not sufficient for our needs (her needs....). So she talked my dad into selling us some land off his parcel and worked out a deal with a buddy who was looking to buy his first...

Hello all, I have read this forum for a couple weeks now trying to decide with what epoxy to go with. I have come to the conclusion of going with ArmorPoxy. I'm not sold on a color yet and their website doesnt have a ton of pics of colors applied. Was curious if any of you guys/gals have pics...
