What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Sorry that I missed this one. I'm glad you like it. The scribing tool was just a 60 deg threading tool turned on its side. To scribe and index the lines I used a 200 tooth saw blade mounted on the spindle (the lathe was unplugged). Then it was just a matter of moving the blade one tooth at a...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I made a new cross slide dial and assembly for my Atlas/Craftsman 12" lathe. Everything except for the lead screw and handle are new. Here's the before: And after: I designed the new cross slide to include thrust bearings at both ends, the dial reads on the diameter instead of the radius...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

The miters are glued and reinforced with a biscuit. The backs are dadoed into each of the 6 sides. The individual hexagon pods are just screwed into each other with a couple of stainless screws. To attach them to the wall I used french cleats on the two outside and the middle pod. I've got a...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Thanks. I have been thinking about the mobile. I already took out about 10" from the original string that it hung from. As he gets bigger, I'll probably move it somewhere else or take it down altogether.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Today I finally finished up the crib. My wife is due with our first in a couple of weeks and she was getting pretty antsy that it wasn't ready yet. The hardwood parts are cherry and the side panels are 18mm baltic birch plywood. I also made these hexagonal wall shelves that she found on...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

My wife and I are expecting our first in early July and I decided to make the little boy some tools to get him started. A little bit of baltic birch with some scraps of hardwood and I came up with this.

    Show Me Homebuilt Storage Cabinets

I made mine with cheapo HD plywood to the dimensions of the IKEA BESTA cabinets. This way I could pick up the doors at IKEA and paint the cabinets. Here are a couple of pics before the cabinets got painted.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I've been making some sawdust in my garage. A while back I made a walnut dodecahedron lamp base for my wife. I through it would be fun to make one where each edge has two magnets in it to hold the faces together. This one is just birch plywood, but I'll probably make a nicer one later. I...

Show me your 12x20 or similar shops

Thanks guys. I made the cabinets from plywood to use the IKEA doors. The doors used to be called "Tofta", but I think they have since changed the name. The dimensions of the cabinets are in my thread. Ceiling height is 8'6" on average. The floor is sloped toward the door, so a little higher...

Show me your 12x20 or similar shops

Here's mine. Basic 19'x12' single. HOA specifies that my car has to park inside each night, so the floor has to remain clear. I use it for car work and some basic woodworking.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

My wife found this picture of a lamp on pinterest and asked if I could make one. Not wanting to back down from a challenge, I told her "Of course I can". This project can only be described as miters from hell. Cutting perfectly regular pentagons is challenging enough, but then to also...

The Incredibly Overpriced Bench Solutions Folding Workbench: Restocked

I have some of the folding shelf brackets and they work well. The only challenge with them is the small tab inside the shelf that needs to be released to fold them down. I'm not sure how you depress all 3 brackets when they are 12ft apart.
