Back in the day, we cleaned the crud off big compressor cylinders with a big dip tank. Solution was water and soda ash (sodium carbonate). Heat and agitation really sped the process up. The cast parts came out completely clean, i.e. nor grease, carbon, paint, nor rust.

Is MSD a points ignition? If not, you need to remove the voltage regulator; it needs the full 12 volts

I cannot believe that I am going to admit this, but I bought the Harbor Junk bimetal set to cut holes in 3/16 steel and they actually cut as well as any other saw I have used. A couple of broken teeth, but they will still cut. Trick is to go SLOOOOWWW and be sure to keep the cut oiled.

I have the same connection from my compressor to my manifold and it has caused no problems over 5 years. In my opinion you gain nothing by having the hydraulic hase made.
