    Extra I-Beam, gantry build ??

Wow. Much more of a response than I was expecting. Thank you all. Yeah, Its probably just a pipe dream, but I figured I'd just kick the idea around. I just keep thinking how awesome a 20' span gantry would be in the shop, but in all truthfulness it be way too much. I really want a 3 ton...

    Extra I-Beam, gantry build ??

In my recent home building experience, I have acquired an extra 24' of W14x34 I-Beam. I needed 26' for my ridge beam, but had to buy the whole 50' length. I have wanted to build a gantry for a while, and always found that the price of I-beams on the second hand market mirrored new prices, so I...

plumbing question - not in garage

The interior wall backs up to the master closet, and the foyer closet. Which would seem like an easy way to mirror flip everything, but in doing so would block the linen closet (not represented in the drawing) which took a corner out of the master closet. Apparently linen closets are a must...

plumbing question - not in garage

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. We have narrowed it down to either running the plumbing under the R-49 insulation (warm side) or making some sort of chase/drop ceiling to run the plumbing in on the interior and having the fixture exit from the ceiling. All the valves and controls would...

plumbing question - not in garage

I have a question about a bathroom plumbing idea. The issue is I have designed a bathroom setup and my girlfriend has designed a different bathroom setup. Guess who's opinion is stronger? Anyway, the bathroom style she wants is a walk in shower where there is no shower door...

Blazer Big Shot GT8000 leaking (need parts)

Heck yeah. I have a 1962 Buick Special Station wagon that I have mocked up with a Mustang II front suspension and a pieced together 86/87 GN / Turbo Regal drivetrain. I'm not positive if I am going to continue on with that path or not though. I also have a 1963 Buick 401 nailhead that I want...

Blazer Big Shot GT8000 leaking (need parts)

Update - Company got back to me and said that they would mail the replacement part at no cost to me. We'll see if they actually follow through. So far I'm happy with their response.

Blazer Big Shot GT8000 leaking (need parts)

I've been searching the internet for a source (local or other) to find a replacement fill valve or o-rings for my Blazer Big Shot GT8000 butane torch. The valve leaks and I'd like to fix that problem because it is getting annoying anytime I need the torch I have to fill it and waste a bunch of...

No longer available at that price. Sad, I have one and would definitely have bought the second one.

    Winter car packs

Are you looking for a pre-packaged and purchased kit or what people build and keep in their vehicle? During the winter I always keep a bag with a Carhartt jacket, overalls, gloves, hats, and a blanket. I live near the Syracuse, NY area work evenings (Till 2am). A lot of times the roads aren't...

Thin, 6-point Boxed-End Wrench, Flare Nut Wrench, or Socket?

Take a grinder to one of your wrenches and make it fit into the space you need. I have a few wrenches that have been "reshaped" to fit my needs.

    Fighting stink bugs

I've had the dawn trap thing up in the trusses a few days on a timer. I'm on my way out to the barn to do some work and check it out. We'll see how it goes. I probably killed 2 dozen yesterday between smashing them and sucking them up in a shop vac.

    Fighting stink bugs

Anyone have a proven method of catching and killing stink bugs? Studies have said that the best trap is a turkey roast pan, water, Dawn dish soap, and a desk lamp. I'm gonna argue that though. The best traps I have found are every box, tote bin, cabinet, and uprights of pallet racking in my...

Need Help Finding a Rolling Workbench for Garage?

Check your local municipality auctions. Old science lab tables are awesome and have a chemically resistant coating on them. I bought 7 of them for under $10 each. Added some casters to two of them.
