regular glass and tempered glass dont work well with the fireplace. tempered might last a little longer, but it just doesnt like the temperature changes that enviroment provides. I just got new glass for my stove, I cant remember the trade name of it, but its meant to withstand the temp changes.

We used to take our rusty/crusty chains to the sanddunes with us. A quick run in the truck with the chains in tow and they were as good as new!
