Sorry. Was at work. I 10 miles outside of Chicago. There is an electric vent behind that heater. There is also what looked like an exhaust pipe for a wood stove and a passive vent.
The garage is 22x44.
I’d like to keep that rafter storage if possible.
I’ve had this garage for about 5 years. You can tell the previous owner had stapled in insulation at some point but then ripped it out. No idea why. Anyway I’d like to insulate and hopefully do it on the cheap. There are no soffits or ridge vents. What should I do?

I've only had the garage a few years but I think there was a huge moisture problem. It looks like there was once insulation that was ripped out for that reason. I found quotes that the previous owner received to build a new garage.
I'm not against insulating but I would have to gut it and...
Here is my situation.
I have a 950 sq ft wood frame detached uninsulated garage. I live 10 miles west of Chicago. Half of the garage was built in 1938, the second half in 1973. I would like to heat the garage only for when I am messing around in there 2-3x times a week. Right now I'm just...
I'm going to add 2 vertical gable studs on each side of the window. The existing studs are old, thin and actually
cut around the window.

I wish. Driveway configuration along with a combination of Trees and fence make portable or in-ground Pole not an option.

Please forgive
my ignorance, I know nothing about structures.
What if I installed two new vertical webs on either side of the window and the fabricated 2 steel plates on both sides to horizontally fasten the top portion of the mounting plate?
The bottom of the mounting plate through the...
Ive been lurking here a while and really enjoy the board. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a problem I have currently. I want to install a acrylic basketball backboard with a adjustable mount in the front of my garage. I am trying to figure out the the best way to attach and brace the...
I have the 44" harbor freight and I didnt notice any major drop in quality between the two. Actually think that for 399 this might be a better deal than the HF for 337

Sorry if this was already posted but saw this yesterday at the local Costco in Illinois. 599 marked down to 399. Three in stock last night in North Riverside.

Lots of great advice. I would just add, buy the tools you need for each project as you do them. Your first project is trim. Buy the porter -cable trim compressor kit and buy a good brand sliding double bevel mitre saw. The compressor and trim guns will allow you to get trim down in a quarter of...
rick96 actually I will pick a set up. I was reading somewhere that when Costco has price endings that end in 9 but are not .99 that it usually signifies a good deal that Costco cut with supplier. I found this same set online from some small auto parts chain for 29dollars.
