Snap On says they don't sell a rebuild kit for the SSDMRE4 but the innards for straight handle model are the same. Rebuild kit in attached pic.

I absolutely hate the plastic selector type. I prefer having the thumb turn screw starter cap and metal selector.

If your selector is gummy, take it apart to clean and lube the internals. Pic 1 - The only way I know how to reduce drag, if cleaning and lubing internals didn't help, is to increase the gap size between the selector and thumb turn screw starter cap. Pic 2 - I had to actually cut off almost...

I'm sure you've solved your problem but I'd remove the collet entirely by first removing the retaining ring. Broken part will fall right out.
