Been swamped at work. Not too much going on with the garage. Still finishing up the apartment. We did get the final inspection and passed. I've been hard at work 30ish minutes nightly on my engine swap project.
My parents had no idea about sealing roll up doors. I would like to keep any little critters or dust out of my bay so I looked into a brush seal kit for my bay. That was an easy install and hopefully keeps things out of my area.
You can see right in!
Not any more
Trim has been coming along slow but it is coming along. We want to get things finished on the inside while keeping the interior of the metal walls accessible until we can get the leaks fixed. We went for beadboard on the last wall of the bedroom.
The trim carpenter built a little knee-wall that...
Happy 617!
Trim carpenter came by and started doing windows and doors in the office. We also talked to him about doing a simple counter in the "office" kitchen.
I've been collecting posters, POP and art for a while in hopes of having a garage to hang it upon. Still plenty more to put up. The only handmade art are two drawings by my mother, the hand-mountain and the underwater scene of Jim Morrison, and a kinetic sculpture my grandfather made. Don't...
The electricians have been out there sporadically throughout the week. Thankfully they finished my bay so I can get stuff moved. Also the power company installed our meter today so I'll consider that a good sign. Only one switch panel, one outlet, one light and one smoke detector left to wire...
Only that the three of us all work considerably more than full time during the summer season. Two guys showed up yesterday and actually installed a good bit of lighting and finished some switches. They left work stools and kneeling pads so hopefully that means they'll be back on Monday.
Called the GC yesterday and he contacted the electrician. We were told he'd be here today and back tomorrow if he had to. He never showed up. So far, in the 3 weeks he claims he'll be here, he's worked for 2.5 hours and installed 6 receptacles. Pathetic. And he's about the only one around here...
The grass in the backyard is starting to grow.
Sun's out, engines out. The garage isn't done but at least I'm able to get some work done.
My personal bay is coming along. We're still waiting on the world's slowest electrician so I can't push things up near the outlets yet. The electrician...
The lowest rated part of these is the end walls. This building is rated to 150mph winds. I really hope we don't see wind quite that high. I think my house would have trouble long before that. IIRC our highest wind(in my lifetime at least) was 120 sustained.
I wasn't super happy with the ceiling finish so I rolled on another coat of white paint. I don't want my cabinets/toolboxes/chests to rub against the drywall so I did a little chair rail today. Only the highest quality Festool miter and random orbital for this guy
Painted my bay! Ceiling is flat bright white. Walls are a super light tint of the same color as my BMW, Avus Blau. Only thing I have left to do before the electrician finishes it is to install a chair rail.
