VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Mundele, if I'm understanding your post correctly, there is no key slot milled into the cylindrical part of your dynamic jaw or is the rectangle key just missing? Here's another chance to make a post!

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Yep. Have had a 1946 Wilton 835 for 5 years, then wanted a bigger one so bought and refurbished a 1956 8400HD. Turned out beautiful. Then wanted something bigger - even though the 835 would handle anything I've done in the last 10 years. So I found and refurbished a 60's 9450. I'll be...

Older Wilton Bullet Vise Size Comparison 3.5", 4.0", 4.5"

I used my 1946 Vintage Wilton Bullet for about 5 years and it handled everything I needed done. I wanted a larger size so set out looking on Ebay. I found it very difficult to discern the size differences between the 3 sizes listed in the title by looking at pics of single vises for sale on...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I really like how your 7/8" handle & bore job turned out on my 4" Bullet and was debating on doing the same for the 4.5" but haven't decided yet.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I just got through finishing up the final details of a previously restored a 1967 vintage 9450. And of course I used my favorite Rustoleum Verde Green to finish it off. New Kevin Scott Hex swivel clamps, serrated jaws and a light surfacing of the pock marked anvil. With regard to the spindle...

    My 1956 Wilton Bullet 8400HD (or 9400HD?)

Here's the 9400 repainted Verde Green with new Kevin Scott Hex swivel clamps, new serrated jaws and a new 7/8" diameter spindle handle. Here's the freshly repainted 1946 Vintage 835 alongside it's bigger brother.

    My 1956 Wilton Bullet 8400HD (or 9400HD?)

It was a very thin rubberized coating. Some Chemtool and a Scotchbright pad took it off fairly easily. I actually liked the soft silicone rubber'ish feel of it but I want this vise back to as original as I can make it.

Thanks for the responses. This is a 4" vise.

    My 1956 Wilton Bullet 8400HD (or 9400HD?)

I've had my Sept-1946 835 for a few years and have always wanted an older 400S as an upgrade. I came across this advertised 8400HD and was lucky enough to snap it up for $345 to my door. It just arrived today and while the casting numbers are fairly sharp, the first digit is difficult to make...

Wilton Bullet Vise date stamping. show yours with or without EXP on slide

I need a couple more posts to ad pics. I just got this vise today and I don't know the difference between an 8400HD and a 9400HD mfg'd in 1956. On Ebay, the ad said 8400 but the casting number sure looks more like "9" than an "8". I do know how surprised I was at how much more massive it is...

Restoring 1952 Wilton Bullet 8400 Vise

Well...I wasn't prepared for the "mass" increase between my 835 and the 8400 HD (or 9400 HD) that just arrived. I knew it was shipped at 52 lbs but I still wasn't prepared for it's size. I need more posts to start a thread.

I've visited here over the years and finally joined when looking to upgrade my 1946 835. Just received my 1956 8400 HD (as advertised but I think it's a 9400 HD by the castings) Only have 1 other post so can't start a thread on the new vise yet. Will try to find where to post pics of the Guar...
