Silicone vs. asphalt for flat roof

OK, thanks for the answers. One more question: can you walk repeatedly on a silicon roof? I don't mean marching an army with regular traffic, just walking around sometimes to say clean the TV dish or check the mini-split compressors. I'm also planning on installing solar panels, can they be...

Silicone vs. asphalt for flat roof

Hi neighbor, (yes, I finally updated my profile :) ). What is TPO? You're just up the hill from us and that extra 3,000 feet or so must be hell with the UV rays, they're bad enough here at 7,000. Did a local contractor put it on or was it a DIY?

I've seen that referenced too but have zero idea of what it is except for deciphering the acronym.

Silicone vs. asphalt for flat roof

I've been trying to understand the pro's and con's of these two flat roof coating options but am having a surprisingly difficult time getting details. Searching here has limited info and Google turns up mostly sales pitches (what a surprise :-) ) I currently have old school asphalt/gravel on...

    DIY elevator...

This is exactly what I'm looking for too. It looks like Unistrut. How do you get around the mounting bolts interfering with the lower wheel set? The uppers pull out, the lower pushes toward the wall.

End mill in a hand drill

Well, I finally achieved some sort of success. I got the bolt out and was able to thread what was left of the hole. Great ideas here guys, thanks. I really like the idea of the drill bushing jig, that's probably a winner. And I used an EDM when I was a machinist but only in the vertical...

End mill in a hand drill

I considered this, but the bolt head is recessed in the frame, not enough room to weld it. Plus, after I was able to get part of the head off, the corrosion was extensive, I doubt it would have come loose. There's a good idea. The side stand fits between two sections of the frame so there is...

End mill in a hand drill

Anybody ever try this? I've had to drill out a bolt that holds the side stand on my FJR, it was corroded in place. Long story short, I drilled a pilot hole of 1/8 inch but it diverged toward the end of the bolt. When I came back with the 11/32 bit, the size for re-tapping the hole, it too...

    Autohaus

Did anybody notice that the back part of the upstairs is totally open to the whole downstairs garage? Can you imagine the fumes and smells? This would be headache city. Now granted, I keep my garage clean and pollutant free as much as possible but what about the time you spill antifreeze...

Anyone with a wood burning stove in detached garage?

It's funny how wide a misconception this is. In Santa Fe in the winter, it is normally around 20 during the night, may get up to the high 30's during the day. Can get as low as zero when a cold front passes thru. Highs of around 85 during the middle of summer. Santa Fe is at 7000 feet.

Anyone with a wood burning stove in detached garage?

Warning! Search Function Zombie thread! :shocking: When you were in New Mexico, did you have a wood stove in your shop or your house? Are they legal in the garage? We have a place in Santa Fe (El Dorado) and I'd like to install a wood heater in the garage
