Install flush mount scissor lift, who’s done it, how did it go, Horlick base, re bar/ concrete for a 6 k in floor scissor lift

@mtbuilder Hello mtbuilder = Sorry for the long delay; I am not here regularly. My lift ramps are 42" apart.

    Would I regret a 4 post lift?

Any lift is better than no lift. I have had a 4-post and 2 mid-rise scissor lifts, all BendPak. The 4-post was best for added parking/storage of a car. The size of the 4-post can be problematic, depending upon your garage. I had a 3-car with a 10'5" ceiling and it worked for me. In later...

    New build on existing property

We just completed a 44' wide x 36' deep with a 12.5' ceiling garage. Our goal was to have three cars parked in there with room to open doors and work on them w/o having to move anything. Having 44' is great. We went 36' deep because we did not want to crowd the work bench or be under the open...

36X48 Garage Build - AKA "I Love Debt" is Underway!

Congratulations! We just completed a 44'x36'x12.5' garage. We have large windows on two sides, double 2-car garage doors, a large 12'x5' dormer with 2 large windows. Fully insulated with its own HVAC. Concrete floor is 6" to 7" 4300 PSI power hard trowel finished. Plenty of lighting and...

    HOA horrors?

Here, in Placer County, CA - the County is now using drones to view properties for possible violations. I know this because we are just completing a 3,200 sq. ft. build on our property and they sent me the very recent drone images showing the build in progress. They thought we had an issue; we...

    HOA horrors?

I am not interested in spending my retirement time on an HOA Board. I did however recruit a new home owner for a vacant seat and he was "seated" earlier this month. That's me stepping up to help out the HOA.

    HOA horrors?

Here in crazy CA, our governor signed AB 130 into law in June of this year. It limits HOA fines to $100 for a violation unless it is deemed a safety issue -think failing to cut down weeds at the beginning of the fire season. In that situation, they can fine whatever they want. But for normal...

Install flush mount scissor lift, who’s done it, how did it go, Horlick base, re bar/ concrete for a 6 k in floor scissor lift

I recently completed the install of a BendPak mid-rise lift https://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/mid-rise-scissor-lifts/mds-6lpf/ . It is the 3rd BendPak lift I have installed in as many garages. The last 2 were the mid-rise 6LPF flush-mounted into the floor. The one I just had installed was on...

    Polyaspartic Floor gone wrong?

Sorry; can't believe it is almost a year since I posted on this thread. Glad to see the OP got his floor sorted; it looks much nicer. As to the "failures" I have seen and have in my current garage (not the new garage) I can't tell you how or why they failed. I was not the one who installed...

    Concrete slab question

OK, good point. I should have said aside from the control joints, there are no cracks in this floor.

    Concrete slab question

We poured 4300 PSI, 6"-7" thick for our 44x36 garage. It was then power hard trowled and saw cut for relief joints. We also formed pits for a mid-rise scissor lift and the garage will get a 2-post lift as well. Not a crack anywhere. Our concrete crew have worked together for over 20 years...

    What's This Drain in Garage

Looks like it is intended to be a drain; try running a snake through it.

Furnace filters have gotten really expensive, and cheaply made

I agree; at Home Depot they are about $20 each. I look for the sales and just bought a 4 pack that ended up being $9.99 each. Still expensive, but better than $20 each. I typically change them ever 4 months.

Build New or Repair/Restore Garage? Seeking advice...

What Larry_G said. With that caveat, if the city/county, etc., does not mind if you rebuild/restore the garage, I would definitely want to start fresh and solve all of your problems. Believe me, dealing with the governing agencies can be a biatch- we are getting close to finishing a new build...

Concrete Polish or Grind / Seal?

We are just at about 75% of the way through our residential garage, 1,603 square feet with a 6"-7" 4300 PSI power troweled finish with saw cut joints. We have an in-ground scissor lift and an above-ground 2-post lift. I want to do something to seal up the saw cuts and make the floor easy to...
