Other than collecting, I see no reason to bother repairing old Craftsman stuff. Just call or email and get it warrantied, they don't even make you send back the new one so you can still hold onto it for "nostalgia".
Excellent! I'll be ordering a set of the 12 points next time I know I have an ISB turbo job coming, right now I'm up to my neck in Navistar rebuids. The crowsfeet are a nice surprise I wasn't expecting, I can finally replace my trash Indian Sunex set.
The Icon double box (mountain wrenches) are plenty comfortable, and I'm a 6'9" gorilla that leans on them plenty without them giving. If you want ratcheting combos, I like my Mac Precision Torques.
I don't really care if people collect tools, new or old. What annoys me is when people who clearly don't use their tools "review" them. Lastbesttool being one of them.
Maybe not, but even warrantying them once can make it worth it. Compared to paying to mail it back to have them MAYBE warranty it, which they probably won't.
HD Diesel mechanic here if you need a tester. Often doing cylinder heads, HP fuel pumps, HP oil pumps, etc.
Side question, are these "lint free" by chance?
I'm gonna chock these up to a bad batch, I looked at my most common ones used today, and yes, they have wear, but not NEARLY the extent yours do (especially over so short of time). I'm FAR from gentle with them too, my 3/8s set on occasion get hit with the 2967 where I can't get my 1/2"s.
I was on the verge of buying a Crosstrek but caliper bolts and the CVTs were always big on my negatives. Dunno if I ended up doing better by buying a Countryman, though so far I love it.
This thread just further convinces me that VIM just sells imported gimmicky junk. Hopefully they don't give...
