Yeah, I bought these for some pretty specific stuff. I have flex head short Gearwrench brand ones, use them on occasion. The head is a bit big on the snappys, but they feel much better in quality.

My Snap-on XDHRM wrenches finally arrived today after delayed shipping. Haven't had much of a chance to try them out, but I just love the way they feel. Grabbed the 13 and 15mm versions (mostly work on GMs) Also got some mastercraft flare wrenches The new snappys and mastercrafts look...

Show off your "Custom Handled Ratchet"

To update, it's been working great. I use it every day. I've got 3 or 4 1/2" drive ratchets of different makes, and this is always the one I go for. Sent from somewhere between here and there

    Worth buying SAE?

Negative. 14mm IIRC and the u joint strap bolts are 11mm, the diff cover bolts I think are 13. Sent from somewhere between here and there

    Worth buying SAE?

I have owned 5 early to mid 90s GM pickups (K1500s and K2500s) and have not encountered one SAE fastener anywhere on those trucks. That's everything from partial motor teardowns to a full frame swap. Even the lug nuts are 22mm, axle nuts are 36mm. Just throwing that out there. Sent from...

So, why are the ratcheting wrenches 12 point?

Exactly. I had an oddball 6 point one and I found it annoying to get it up into a tight spot then have to bring it back out to rotate the head a little so I could get it on the fastener. Not as much of an issue with 12 points. It really is the little things that make the difference.

This count? Broke a flex head pro point 3/8 (princess auto brand), so I cut the head off and ground down a short stanley 1/2" I had and drilled it to become a long flex head. Works perfect, I use it all the time now.

Tools you shouldn't have to buy but do.

-Big Allen bolt for drain plug on some GM manual transmissions. I think it's 18mm IIRC. Why not just use a regular bolt head like the engine oil pan. Had to go out and find one as my regular set didn't get close. -5.5mm fasteners. There is a standard size that fits, however I forget what it is...

    Cleaning your hand tools

Whatever is available. Rag, brake cleaner, windex...anything. As long as I don't grab a tool and get a big glob of grease with it I'm happy. Certainly not a clean freak by any stretch.

Got my Mac BHFM 17x19 and 12x14 in the mail today. Used the 14 on a manifold bolt...worked perfectly. They feel really nice in the hand, and are obviously quality made. I'm looking forward to using them more, and need to find a 13x15, 16x18 and 21x22 to complete my set. Might go with Snap On...

If you had a $15,000 Gift Card to any tool company, which would it be, and what...

$15'000? I would buy a set of flare wrenches, a set of dual 80s, and if I had enough left over, a pocket screwdriver.

Tools that are just NOT needed, but lovely Engineers make you buy

I swap out every Phillips screw when possible for a Robertson (square). Does that count?

Some of the old fractional sized sockets were a good example of this. I have a 25/32 socket. Why??? FYI, I use a 7/32 socket as a 5.5mm. (actually measures out to 5.55mm if I calculated right). e-torx is something I wonder about. I was really thrown for a loop one time when I found them in...

    Beach toolbox information

Nashwaak Bridge if I remember right, which is only about 10 minutes from Stanley, so probably the same one. The guy I bought it from had recently picked it up for his girlfriend. I like the top box you've got. I'd love to find one.
