You might try a light rubbing compound or a paint cleaner wax. It might remove the rust and expose enough of the paint to keep it original looking. Great find!
Thank you. The catalog is cool. I did not see Model No 125 listed. I checked Internet Archive and didn't see another catalog. Maybe there is one out there.
Mine are not Italian shears. I’ve got a couple of my great grandparents garden pruners. One pair is Lakeside brand. They were sold by Montgomery Wards. I really like the brass springs. You can only see the "L" and part of "side."
The second pair is made by Seymour Smith and Sons. I...
I've had the Worx mulcher for 3 seasons. I purchased it off Craigslists pretty cheap. It has worked well for me. I end up with about 10 40 gallon bags of shredded leaves per season.
I cleaned up the hooks today. One thing I learned from cleaning up a bunch of C clamps and these pipe wrenches is to soak the pieces in vinegar over night and clean them with the wire brush on the bench grinder the following day. There isn't any dust and they clean up faster.
I don't think I...
Hello all! I have a couple of pipe wrenches that belonged to my Grandfather. The first one shows the marking E14.1 on the jaw and "PAT PEND'G" on the handle. I am wonder if this is like Private Lugnutz's 1/11/1928-9/9/1929 example? The other shows the marking B.4.10 on the jaw. Can the...
Today, I cleaned up a J.W. Speaker inner tube vulcanizing patch clamp. I was happy that some red paint survived. This has been on our farm for probably 100 years. My father said Grandpa patched inner tubes for his Model T using this. The patches came on a tin diamond shape lid about 2.5...
Here are three Cincinnati Tool Company C Clamps that I restored not to long ago. I found just enough paint on them to repaint them their original color. The screws work great. I can't remember if these were my father's or where I got them.
Yesterday, I made a wrench extender from a piece of garage door opener steel and angle iron. I saw a few on GJ and decided to make one today. God willing, I will become a better welder some day. He is good.
