Modifying Garage Ceiling to Accommodate lift

It is possible to modify a truss, but you need an engineer to design it. You cannot just cut members of a truss, each one is important to the structural integrity of the truss - and the bottom chord is the most important member! Likely, adding plywood to each side of the trusses you wish to...

What do I need to know for adding Pole building to stick building?

I don't see a problem. You could even build the addition taller if you like, intersecting the two roofs really is not a big deal as long as existing rafters or trusses aren't undersized already. Have the new header engineered - lumber yard may be able to do this. I agree on the rain/door...

    Local zoning ordinances? Garage height?

Look online, many towns have their zoning laws posted. Go to the town hall website. And don't be too afraid to go for a variance if needed. Also, look around your neighborhood, if others have tall garages you have a good case for a variance if needed.

    New Member-Lift Question

LiftMaster 3800 is the way to go. That's what I have, my ceiling is much higher than yours, but I can lift my car right up to the ceiling if I back it in - garagedoor fits above the trunk (911).

Need Advice!! Wooden Walls in A Steel truss Building

Rent a power actuated nailer - that's what the pros do. Drilling and screwing would be extremely tedious.

Open cell or Closed cell Spray foam

So - did you decide on open or closed? If open, do not use a vapor barrier between insulation and drywall - it will trap moisture.

Open cell or Closed cell Spray foam

Burleymike - are you sure about that? I'm very familiar with that article, and they recommend XPS or EPS rigid insulation, both are closed cell. It would be helpful if they would update it for spray foam. I'm not sure which is correct but my feeling is closed cell is the right choice.

Did you try sign companies? Some of them print on vinyl and may be able to help. Also, you might try a print/reprographic shop.

Lift Options for 10' ceiling height??

I have a Mohawk 9000lb 2 post lift in my garage - 10'-4" ceiling. I think the lift is around 8' or 9' tall (can't remember and too lazy to get off the couch to check). I do have to slouch a little, but it's not too bad. I didn't want to make my ceiling any higher for aesthetic reasons - my...
