Bought a new level last night...

Both Empire and Johnson are made in the USA. I have both. Loved it when Menards put their Empire levels on clearance to make room for the Johnson's. Picked up a 72" True Blue box level for $30.

    Nope, completely different box.

They're NOT Waterloo. They seem okay, but I did notice a weld was broken on the display on the top part of the box. Kind of sent up a warning shot to me.

    Snap On F80 "Clone"

Some people have tool budgets and try to stick to them. I have one, and I try to stay within the limit I set for myself. I suspect mine might be higher than average. Maybe his tool budget is $100 a month but he wants other stuff too. Just pointing out the other side of the coin.

For the money you're going to have a very hard time beating the Husky 3/8 72 tooth ratchet. It's an APEX ratchet (ie Armstrong, Gearwrench, ect) so they borrowed the design and gave it quick release. It's also a MUCH thinner head than the Kobalt or Titan...

Inspire new generations of Americans to produce! How?

I'll be the counterpoint here. There is a whole lot of stuff just doesn't need to last forever as a general rule. A hammer? Sure, that could be a lifetime investment and could be handed down. But I have my grandfathers all metal Mall drill. Still works to this day, though I never use it...

    My Re-handled Beater...

The easiest thing for me has been this... Slide a fender washer (or two) over the blade Wrap the blade in gorilla tape (or leather would work) Clamp the blade in a vise leaving about a 1/2 gap between the handle & the top of the vise Use a couple of pry bars and gently lift up ****, undamaged...

Craftsman All Rubber Garden Hose 5/8 In. x 50 Ft $19.99 @ Sears.

They should also not tangle, kink and remain flexible even in cold weather...this one does all of that. When you need to uncoil a hose in February because your sump pump went out during a big snow melt, it sure is nice to be able to run it from your basement out your kitchen window when it's...

    Knipex Pliers

Well, yes and no. I have the Cobra's (rebadged as Craftsman), the mini bolt cutters, cable cutters and diagonal cutters. The mini bolt cutters are awesome, I wouldn't trade them for anything. LOVE them. The diagonal cutters are not impressive and I am still using the ones I thought I was...

    Cheap tools

Yea, this is what gets me too. I hear guys talking about having truck tools for home, but they buy el cheapo for the junkyard trips. Um, wouldn't make more sense to take the strongest most durable of your tools for removing stubborn nuts and bolts on some POS car that's been sitting there for 10...
