    New garage build lighting help

I have a 34' x 50' garage and have 12 8' 4-bulb T8 fluorescent fixtures in it. The lighting is great but there is one thing that I would do differently if I had it to do all over again. I would definitely NOT go with electronic ballast fixtures; not that they are bad overall, but I cannot listen...

Wire size challenge - 200A service

I would go to your nearest electric supply dealer and ask for SE cable and tell them what size panel you are feeding (200A) and they will do you right if they are worth their salt (but ALWAYS back it up with what is in the NEC manual). SE cable will be MUCH easier to handle and pull through the...

Bypassing Dryer Outlet for a Welder?

Being one to try and do everything RIGHT, I would definitely NOT hook up what should be a dedicated circuit(s) to that breaker in the picture. I would pull that breaker out and get 2 2-pole breakers (one 30A for the dryer and one 50A for the welder) and run separate circuits to each.

    More wiring questions

Beemer.......... that is always an option, but you are actually creating more work for yourself by doing it that way. My reason is expandability; you wouldn't have ANY problems putting in additional lights and just tapping into one of the other switched circuits. I know that it is MUCH easier...

    More wiring questions

Okay bobbyu, here's the deal...... I am pretty sure that you will not have so many lights in that garage to overload a 20 amp circuit so, this is what you do.... run ONE 12/2 romex to ONE switch box and power BOTH 3-way switches in that box. Run 12/3 to BOTH the 3-way in the first run AND the...

    Wiring a 20amp/240v outlet

I agree with Norcal.......... But, hey............ it's your life your dealing with; and, if the inspector has a garage, I'll bet that ALL of the circuits in HIS garage are GFCI protected (per NEC code).

    Compressor to welder outlet?

There has been a lot of good (and not so good) advice given on this subject. But the BEST thing to do is actually run a separate circuit with a #10/2 with ground and install a 30 amp breaker in the service panel, and buy a receptacle that matches the plug that came with the compressor. Doing...
