My day job is Professor of History and American Studies at the College of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, VA, where I specialize in cultural and intellectual history. Otherwise I make sawdust, metal shavings, and noise, while I recondition/restore old cabinet tools, build stuff, and repair stuff--you name it.
