The color difference is just barely detectable in person, but a really good match overall. The vinyl is made for wrapping cars, so I have high hopes for the durability. And there isn’t an adhesive so it can peel off without any residue, which is nice.
Added some vinyl wrap to the top drawer tonight. This box is now looking pretty darn close to brand new! Results are impressive I think. It’s my first time using vinyl wrap. We’ll see how well it holds up.
I think I might have seen one of his replicas in the past. It might have been a longer version of the chute if I remember.
This one cost $75. Not too bad, but my disc sander only cost 100, so it was a little spendy for what it is.
Finally pulled the slides for the large drawer on the bottom right. They’re different than all of the others since they are meant to carry a lot more weight. They also have a different rubber detent for holding the drawer in the closed position. The detent is a rubber wheel seen in the pictures...
The box was in pretty nice shape, but those rubber detents were not so great. I honestly think it was age, more than actual use, that led to the demise of most of the plastic/rubber.
If life would just slow down a bit for me, I'd take that large drawer out to see what the story is on those...
Nice work! Any idea what the detents look like for the large drawer on the bottom right. I still have to take mine out to see what it needs, but it’s definitely different than all the other drawers. Would love to see a pic if you’ve got one.
Finally finished getting the slides all back together for the left bank of drawers. What a pleasure to use now!
I also added some additional rubber padding to the hooks on the back of each drawer since I noticed they occasionally clinked against the back wall of the box when sliding the...
So those little guys are an internal bumper that’s easy to miss. Mine had quite a few that were broken or missing. With the slide all the way extended, and then backed off just a bit, you can spot it through a hole.
@Lookin4'67Galaxieconv That's a NICE box and those casters are looking brand new again. Great work! Were you able to get replacement detents through Accuride. They were great and it only took a few days before I had all new plastic components for the slides, no charge.
LOL! I actually did a little polishing of the paint earlier today just to see how it will end up looking. No ceramic coating, though. That's a little too posh even for me :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
So, the casters were looking pretty sad and had some surface rust and grime. I was thinking the only way to restore them would be a full disassembly followed by cleaning and new paint. Turned out some acetone for the chromed center area and some polish brought them back enough that I think I...
