After talking with a couple shops in town, it sounds like the parts are gonna run about $300. I plan on buying the parts and installing them myself. I will post back as to whether or not this resolves the issue.
Yup when I tested it out the unit cut and the cord looked OEM so I assumed that just the 220v adapter cord was missing. Lesson learned - test used equipment thoroughly. There is nothing I can do about that at this point, so I am looking for advice moving forward.
Took it in to Airgas and they said that the control board and regulator are bad. Quoted me $428 to fix it for parts and labor. Does this sound plausible/fair? I picked it up for $500 initially so this would put my over $900 into a used Powermax30. Would you guys recommend having them fix it...
I threw some new consumables on it, and the problem persists!
Basically after 30 seconds or less of cutting it automatically trips itself off and all lights extinguish for several minutes. It will then spontaneously turn back on and do the same thing again.
Hello,
I purchased a used Hypertherm Powermax 30 that is giving me some trouble, and I was wondering if someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. The previous owner had the multi voltrage cord cut off and replaced it with a 110v plug. I took it to Airgas and they put on a...
I ended up running out of time while experimenting with the acid etching so I just painted it for now and it turned out ok. Not exactly how I was hoping, but she loved it which was cool. Also made a cutesie little bird thing for her out of some scraps I had left over. Thanks again for all the help!
Hey ZKLing,
I'm making a weather vane for my parents and was wondering if you have a recommendation on what metal to use for the arrow and object at the top. I have a bunch of 10 gauge steel scrap lying around but was thinking it might be too heavy for light winds. Do you think it would work...
Thanks to everyone here for offering their expertise. It is immensely helpful to newbs like me when we are looking at buying used tools. I did receive a few more pictures from him and didn't see any glaring issues, but unless he comes down to the $75 ballpark I think I will pass on this one.
Thanks for all the help Drivesit and everyone else here that posts such valuable info! I have another quick question for you gurus. I saw another Cadet model Wilton pop up. It looks to be in good shape, but it is painted already which worries me a bit. Is there a good way to determine if there...
Sorry about that. Strange cause it's crystal clear on my phone. The link to the ad is http://youngstown.craigslist.org/tls/4815733201.html
Don't wanna low ball the guy but 175 seems steep in that condition even with Wilton stamped on the side.
I'm sure I'll regret posting this vise here and creating competition but what would be a good price on this one? I know the .50-1.00/lb rule but Wiltons are usually marked up right? Would $100 be a decent price even with the broken insert?
Thanks for all the ideas, guys! Gonna go grab some gun blue and paint and sanding discs tomorrow and play around on some scrap to see how everything turns out. Will update with pics when it's done to show everyone how it turns out.
