    Combining two air compressors

There is a 100A breaker feeding my compressor shack and I can turn both compressors on at once and the lights don't dim, there is no problem with that. Other reason I am starting and stopping the motors on the same switch is because with 2 separately switched motors it would be tough to stop...

    Combining two air compressors

Oh and don't forget the extra $$ for extra wiring, conduit, breakers, piping, fittings, hoses, clamps etc. add a big amount to this project.

    Combining two air compressors

I am in the process of doing this. I have 2 80 gal comps each has a valve at outlet, then rubber hose to a T, then off to the dryer, then off to the shop. Not sure why OP says the pipe between would be the weak link. This shouldn't be an issue if done properly with some flexible lines. The...

    Welding 6061 Tubing w/pics

Haha ya if it was that thick then yes it would need some pre heat for sure! But looking at the pictures I see a single bead; if it were 1.8" wall that would be a heck of a big weld. I've always wanted to try a gas lens. But seem to get by without.

    Welding 6061 Tubing w/pics

My guess is the guy running the torch has very little time gluing aluminum.... Looks like he's used to the characteristics of steel or SS. Al is very different. Go fast run the heat high. You say it was 200A but he probably didn't have his foot (or thumb) pushed down enough so the arc itself...

    Welding on an air compressor

There are lots of good reasons already mentioned for why a true professional would not touch this with a 10' pole!

How do you properly cut and finish the threaded end of a bolt?

Wanna Ride has the right answer. Learn how to run a cutoff disk and belt or bench grinder. Take the time to make a straight cut by hand without a guide. By the time you find the nut and thread it on there I will have it cut and sanded ready for hot action!

    Fiber/Mesh/Rebar

I have fiber in my floor and there is no sign of it at all on the surface. It was definitely visible when the concrete was wet. I have no intention of coating the floor so I haven't tried etching it. From investigating fiber for my floor I found that it varies in size and length between suppliers.

    Attachments for Skidloader--Tele-boom

I have a piece of 4x4 HSS about 12" long welded to the floor of the bucket and slide in a piece of 3x3 20' long = instant extendo pole thingy. I used this to put up the trusses on my shop they are 32' span 4.5:12 pitch peak is at 20'. Machine is 260 john deere so maybe a bit bigger than your...

    Sealer for concrete floor

I'm wondering the same thing as 12valve. Will epoxy stand up to track hoe and cutting slag? I have never seen real proof that it will. Your average garage with a bit of welding on the odd weekend is one thing, but a welding shop or equipment shop where there is plasma cutting at floor lever...

Got married last year; got a tattoo on the finger instead of a ring. Cheaper than gold.... Never in the way. CC

CFL in a drill press/garage door opener?

I have a desk lamp from Ikea on my lathe max rated 60w but I screwed a 200w incandescant in it and nothing but good bright light; it's a shakey old lathe and the bulb has lasted for years.

Thinking about shortening a sea container

Containers are great I have shortened a few of them. If you don't have a forklift or OH crane I wouldn't bother because the pieces are heavy. The wall thickness is about 1/8" steel it's quite thin. Best way is to cut the end off and loose the 10' or whatever you want to, then weld the end back...
