I just bought a new DeWalt table saw.

I use the stock riving knife on my 7491RS with several different full kerf Forrest Wood Worker II blades and haven't had problems. (I have never used the stock blade). If I ever think the riving knife needs to be thickened up, I'll just add a layer or two of aluminum duct sealing tape, but for...

I just bought a new DeWalt table saw.

Send me an email and I'll reply with the PDF docs of the tables. They aren't drawings or plans but I photographed the build and annotated dimensions that should be easy to replicate. **** Mahany

Bench top drill press stand, build or buy

Home built table I was too cheap to buy one. I used Rockler and Incra components.

Bench top drill press stand, build or buy

I like the idea of using a tool chest as a base but I was concerned whether it would be solid enough. I built a mobile cabinet and it is super useful.

    Table saws-recommendations for a beginner

I have the DeWalt 7491RS and like it very much. A very capable saw. It is more expensive than some others but it has typically gone on sale around Thanksgiving to Christmas for just under $500. I have some specific enhancements for it in this thread (reply...

Show your shop made mobile bases

While not technically a mobile "base", this retractable caster arrangement accomplishes the same function on my 500 lb, lathe. The pipe handle is removable and stores upright on the caster board to avoid a trip hazard.

Are you sure of the thread pitch? 5/8-11 nuts are available at McMaster Carr here: https://www.mcmaster.com/nuts/pipe-size~5-8/hex-nuts/thread-size~5-8-11/ EDIT: Oops you said acme.......the same supplier has 5/8-10 and 5/8-8 acme but no 12 that I can see.

    Non-Standard uses for EMT

I used EMT to build a simple swivel boom arm for hanging dust collection hoses over a multifunction table. Works great.

    Who has a Reelcraft reel?

I've had this Reel Craft unit for about 12 yrs. Works flawlessly. 240V for my wood lathe. It was expensive but worth every penny.

Reciprocating saws: inline vs "hump" style

I have the old style M12 Hackzall and use it for 90% of what I typically do. The short stroke is somewhat of a downside compared to the Fuel version, but still plenty adequate. I only haul out my 25+ yr old corded Makita JR3000V when I just need the raw power.

    Woodworking 101--Tools and Tips

For dust generating activities I use a Trend Air Shield Pro powered respirator. It works wonders filtering fine dust particles but doesn't filter any type of fumes or vapors. For those I use a 3M half mask with P100 organic vapor cartridges and it works very well. The Trend unit is a little...

    Hot water recirc systems

Our 3 yr old home has a tankless water heater and we had a recirc system intall during the build. They used Pex everywhere and it has a dedicated return line. We had a problem with our ACT D'Mand Controls S3-100 system which was was driving us nuts. Three locations had doorbell buttons to...

How long does epoxy floor coatings last?

In my last house I used ArmorPoxy w/ flakes and it held up extremely well for 10 years. No failure of the base coat I did do the grind, etch prepwork as the floor was 30 yrs old and had grease and oil stains that had to be dealt with. The only thing was that the clear coat final coating dulled...

Anybody make the switch to smart light switches?

Like a few others I have also gone with the GE branded (Jasco OEM) Z-Wave devices and a few Leviton outlets as well. I'm using a Universal Devices ISY994 Z-Wave controller and have over a dozen devices connected. The controller works well, but is a little too geeky for my wife but she enjoys...

Corded 3in DA for car detailing...

Rupes LHR 75E Mini Random Orbital Polisher.. Supports multiple backing plates from 3" and up. Expensive though, but very high quality, but I guess that breaks rule no. 4. Another option would be to use a Lake Country 3" backing plate as they fit most DAs such as the Porter Cable 7424xp and...
