Adding castors to Ranger tire changer

I’ve got a ranger rim clamp machine. Mine isn’t bolted down, just sitting on the metal pads. I don’t move it much but you can drag it around a little. I would think 6 inch casters would be a pain with the pedals 6” off the ground. Also that’s an extra 6” you gotta lift your rims and tires.

New small garage - floor pit opinions

Most people seem to have a fear or hatred of pits, but I’m guessing most haven’t spent too much time in a good one. They are still the main go to in heavy truck shops, unless it’s a main dealer with wheel lifts. Personally I’ve never been happy under one of them. I ran a commercial truck shop...

1/4 and 1/2 drive deep sockets

I rarely come across a 12 point bolt head. Very rarely. I think the axle nut on my VW is a 30mm 12 point. That is the only one I can think of in recent years which I have needed. If you've got a VW, its most likely got a 19mm 12 point crank bolt....which you'll need to turn if you ever...

Tire Pressure Gauge for Calcium Filled Tires

IME, no. You can flush them out, oil them etc, but none seem to last very long. I guess maybe if you soaked them in WD40 it might work. I mostly do a 'visual' tire pressure check on loaded tires unless they are obviously very low. Once you start messing with them, the valve stems usually need...

Suggestions on my Shop Press design

I have a Princess Auto (Canadian HF) 20t press. Cheap but it has paid for its self several times over. It is the black heavy duty version, and has the removable threaded in pushing tip. Handy to be able to change the tip if it gets damaged. I always seem to be using ½’ and ¾’ drive sockets to...

    Synthetic Oil Blend

I swapped my 99 Ram 5.2l over to synthetic last fall after 340,000 km on dino. I used Castrol Syntec because it was on special. The main reason I swapped the truck over to synthetic was for cold starting…. I wasn’t able to plug in (block heater) at work this winter. So far, in 6,000 km I haven’t...

    Cnd Tire/Mastercraft Socket Warning

Cnd Tire has Mastercraft 1/2" dr deep chrome socket sets on sale at 50% off this week, so I picked up a metric and an SAE set....useful to leave in tractor/combine/truck tool boxes. I take them out off the packaging and decide to drop some on my hansen type trays to see what it would look like...

Anyone still use sliding T handles?

I have a couple of 3/4 drive sliding T's that I use regularly with cheater pipes on heavy stuff. Can't remember the last time I used my 1/2 drive though.
