Why do so many seem to hate pegboard?

I bought three different sizes of sockets, 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" craftsman sockets. The 1/4" were 8mm, the 3/8" were 12mm and the 1/2" were 18mm. I used a piece of oak, that I had laying around, drilled appropriate holes for the sockets and just pressed them in. I screwed the two oak pieces...

Why do so many seem to hate pegboard?

I love my pegboard, most of my wrenching is done on metric motorcycles. I did find some nice gizmo's for stopping the pegs from falling out.

Just Moved - Did a bit of work in the new garage

Just moved into a 12 year old house. One of the big decisions in purchasing this particular house was that it had 5 garage bays. Bay 5 is a small bay and is offset slightly. Bays 1 and 2 are separated by a staircase from bays 3 and 4. It was understood that the wife would get bays 1 and 2 and...

    Cabinets for garage storage

I'm looking for ideas on pre-made cabinets for garage use. I'd like something around 24" deep. What I've seen at Lowes or Home Depot is not deep enough. If I can't find anything I'll build my own again, like these at my old house, but I'd rather not go through all that effort.

    Folding/Retractable Attic Stair Options

I wish I had pictures to show, I had a barn with a 9' high ceiling with a fully floored attic. I knew the attic area would just be used for storage, motorcycle related stuff, so I wanted a staircase that I could walk up while carrying heavy objects. I wanted the steps to be slightly less rise...

    OFFICIAL THREAD: Genius Storage Ideas

I've done a couple of different things in two different garages to maximize storage. The first was a 3 bay garage with 13' high ceilings. Along the back wall I built a 4' x 25' deck, 6' off the ground. I stored motorcycles up on this deck. I bought a 4 post lift and installed in in the center...

I know Black Iron Pipe for Air but?............

Is this copper pipe available at Lowes or Home Depot or would I need to go to a more specialty plumbing supply? What is the best pipe size to use for a residential two car garage? I'll probably run this all the way along the back wall and down the side wall, probably about 50' to 55'. Thanks

Wanted to use all the garage height

With the digital camera, I had at the time, it's wide angle capability was limited, so it was hard to get back far enough, without bumping into a wall, to get a picture that gave you a full perspective of what I had done. Plus the photo's were taken kin od adhoc as I went along, so there was...

    Split Garage Doors?

I'm no expert, but if you had a 4 panel door and somehow could detach two panels at the hinges, I think you might have issues with the spring as these are tensioned to counter the full weight of the door. Just a thought.

Wanted to use all the garage height

At the time I started this little project, I had several motorcycles, a couple of ATV's and a commercial mower. The garage was a 3 car garage with three individual doors. The ceiling was 13 feet high so it seemed such a shame that all that high space was for nothing. We had a small shed (8' x...
