plowing with riding mower. yay or nay?

Refer my avatar. 1976 Sears Suburban ST16. Chained, weighted and a plow. Only problem I had was storage for it and places to put snow. If I had a snowblower on it I would have kept it. It plowed snow fairly well. Just a driveway big enough to park 3-4 cars. Like the rest said get a blower on the...

Entry level price to do serious work

HF can ship to your home. You were already cutting it so what harm is cutting off more? The only time would have been to have it shipped. Or Amazon Prime it? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001IH8Q0A/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Just pointing out that you seem to want to do things on the cheap. A cut is...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Not today but yesterday. Did the plugs, wires, cap and rotor on the wifes 87 S10 Blazer 4x4 5 speed 2.8l. Fought me every step of the way. Everything on that has been a fight. Today I get to relax and study a bit for the job I want.

    Chainsaws

Homelite Ranger has been the best smaller saw for me. Forgot I had it and sat with gas in it for over a year and started on the second pull.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Kinda new with vises. I will get pictures up within a week. Just picked them up today. Any information about them would be good. Value, date, anything. All work but a paint job and some grease would help them all. Erie Superior No. 44 USA Columbian no. 04 USA Bent handle. Columbian 1035 Taiwan...

HF 26" Box...what do you think?

Not sure if I have series 1 or 2. Bought new 2 years ago when they only had red. Have both top and bottom in 26". Replaced a Craftsman of the same size and it's so much better. As for metal thickness it's about the same except for the bottom piece. With the Craftsman I suggest adding a sheet of...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Was referring to the scrubbing with a SOS pad. Did the vinegar method on some sockets and wrenches. Came out looking great with no pitting just blackness. Didn't end up with any pitting until I used a wire wheel on a bench grinder going 1750rpm to remove the black. Wire wheel on a old cordless...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Just tried and didn't do much to it. Dunking a bunch of old sockets. So wire brush for the vises is what I'm thinking to make it easy. Until I build a blast cabinet.

    Opinions on Tool Vault?

Not Tool Vault but I have a few boxes from HF and they all work good. Beats the Craftsman box I had. Not as deep as Tool Vault but you get 2/3 off the price by giving up 8in in depth. You also get a extra drawer. EDIT: Both the Tool Vault and the HF are supposedly 18ga think shells...

Newer here but I've been lurking.

I guess I'll change it. Although living in a HOA and hell seem about the same.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I blame not having my coffee yet... Makes sense now though. I say hell because I'm in the suburbs with a HOA that's on me about every little thing you can think of... It's good to be here on GJ though. Just went through another thread about lubing ratchets. Didn't even think that was a thing...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

What extreme? Got it worse? The bug for getting and restoring old vises? Both of the vises work and will rotate with 1 finger. Want a few more.

Newer here but I've been lurking.

Lurking in the shadows for about a year around here. Know some things but not everything. Came here to learn and get new ideas. On the younger side. I like all types of tools. Wood working, metal working, automotive and house stuff. In the process of building a rolling bench grinder / drill...
