    School me on stationary buffers

You'll want a low speed buffer to prevent overheating the plastic. I'm not sure you'll find it worth it for those items unless you go through a lot of them and even then that's a tough turn around. for smaller items buffers are probably the most dangerous thing in the shop. They'll grab an item...

    Epstein's Day 2022?

Got my order in as well. Nothing major this year. I did pick up a mystery box though. Really stoked as I picked up a couple of the NOS WWII stock items.

    tig welder recommendation

AHP, Everlast, Harbor Freight units are pretty good for the price as well. If this is more than a hobby consider Lincoln or Miller unites as well but they're priced for the pro not the pro-sumer.

SK Tools Manufacturing Might Be Staying in the USA

It does get them out from under IL's tax burden which is staggeringly high with no signs of it going away. SK is a long line of companies leaving the state. Not getting into politics but that is something that will benefit them. I'm curious if Ideal keeps the old new building or if GreatStar...

SK Tools Manufacturing Might Be Staying in the USA

They should take a strong look at how HF is marketing its icon brand. The lower interest rates for starting out mechanics and DIY people as well. Get into the trade schools and promote in that area. People tend to be very brand loyal at the pro level and you've got to get them early. Also their...

    Any more news about SK?

Their Instagram indicated they weren’t liquidating assets and implied they would still be made in the US.

    Best bits for drilling metal?

Norseman is my go to for drilling normal steel and other metals. for a knife tang a 3/16 full carbide bit. Cheap enough if they break I won’t cry. Then use carbide tile bits to ream to the proper size. This is the cheapest and most effective method I I’ve found for drilling knife tangs.

    Makita Addiction Thread

All of my cordless are makita and I’ve got their 7100b chain mortised. Likely to upgrade to their 7104 soon. I wish I had their 12” planer but I just can’t justify it.

Issue with finish on new SK flare nut wrenches? (Photos)

Ouch. I've not experienced issues with the stuff they make after they were bought out. Just before their bankruptcy I understand it got bad. I've always felt they made a decent quality tool from my experience.

    Advice on Welder

I post on iforgeiron mostly, I haven't had as much time the last year or so. Got married, remodeling the house, baby on the way and my father's not able to do as much work on the farm as he used to so I'm having to slowly take that over. I generally focus on hunting knives as well as a kukri...

    Advice on Welder

It could be anything from welding up frames on equipment, most is 1/4" but some goes up to 3/8" steel, standard mild steel. Also general new equipment building, some equipment can easily be built for far cheaper, a plastic mulch layer for example. I'm planning to build a portable sawmill next...

    Advice on Welder

Prefer to keep this under 700 but willing to go a bit higher. I'm a decent welder but not a welder by trade, again most of mine need to be functional welds more than pretty ones, though I'm not against pretty welds lol. I generally prefer US built welders but willing to look at other options if...
