    Mini Mill Question

I dont have 220 in the house yet, so I'm working on 100. My workshop is a one car garage on a cement slab. I could always make room for a larger mill, but this one was what fit my needs and budget. Other then dropping, it's been pretty great. I'm looking to get a nice mill vise next, so...

    Mini Mill Question

Yup, I saw this as a recommendation as a workaround. I ordered the kit today. When it gets here I'll install it and do some testing. Here's hoping!

    Mini Mill Question

WHOA! Thank you so much! This machinistblog entry is dead on what happens! I'll look into getting a few upgrades for the mill. LMS also has a pully conversion kit that apparently is a must-have as well! You guys rock! Thank you so much! -Robert

    Mini Mill Question

I'll get some pictures when I'm home. There's a nut on top that goes around...the...bolt? that spins while the mill is going. It was loose when i got it so I used the tools that came with the mill and tightened it. Maybe that's it.

    Mini Mill Question

Collet is definitely tightened. Not sure about the quill. I'll have to google what that is! The head, which I assume is the large piece that runs up and down along the column, should be tightened. I had it off, then replaced after it was lubed and tightened. I should have paid more...

    Mini Mill Question

Hey guys, I had a question for those of you with Mini Mill/Mill experience. I have a Harbor Freight 44991 Mini Mill. A few months ago I learned that it had an interesting habit of dropping into my workpiece. The drop is about 1/8" but obviously big enough and bad enough to screw things up! I...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Got three more close to finished. Cut down some screws, did some finishing to 400 grit (on my Pheer 2x72) on the blades, milled detent holes. Tomorrow I'll just sit on a stool and lap everything flat on a granite slab, and to a much higher grit then they are now. Then.. who knows. Maybe cut...

    IMO comfort screwdriver recommend

I know Wera's look goofy, but I love them. Most of my drivers are Wera. My buddy, who's a far greater mechanic then I, swears by his SK sets as well. I've used them and they, too, are comfortable. Were'a drivers with the lasertips are pretty baller!

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Sorry for the delay. Picked up three more Channellocks from Home Depot on my morning errands run, and then changed the oil in the Edge. Looks like GJ doesn't auto resize pics. I had to resize this before linking. Guess I'll add "Changed the oil in my wife's Ford Edge" to the list. I'll...

    Just joined up!!

Welcome to GJ, Meatwad! Remember, you got the right of way unless you in the way! Restoring vises seems like a great hobby! I got my first Wilton last year and I love the bullet design. Have you posted any pictures of your work yet?

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Carved a titanium pocket clip. Milled a fuller on it with a 3/16 ball end mill, took it to a wire wheel brush to orange peel it, then ran it through 20 cycles of heating it red hot and quenching in Windex to blacken it. It's the simple things right?

Both clients of mine. The area around Maple Grove is beautiful. Santander purchased the old Rajah theater and does shows there as well. I was just there to see Maynard sing with Puscifer. Good stuff!
