....a year later after you commented here....I'm almost here! Mercy this past year has been a struggle. I owe y'all a bunch of updates and will try to do that soon. I'm done with all of the framing and am now finishing up painting the trusses before we wrap it and skin it in metal.

I'm struggling with an insulation decision - help me out please!

My plan right now is gonna be to just proceed with Therma Guard. We'll attach it right over the purlins and then sheet metal right on top of that. To create an air gap in there like you described with furring run perpendicular to the purlins sounds great but will create a royal headache to how...

Gentlemen, thank you all for your suggestions here. I’m checking back in to update my decisions and progress. I’ve finished wire wheeling all of the bad stuff. Then, finished treating with phosphoric acid. Then, pressure washed everything and then treated with Hold Tight 102. HoldTight...

Brilliant reply! Thank you! Exactly the kind of knowledge I was asking for here. So stay water-based primer and water based top coat? Spray that primer directly over the rust or what remains of it after pressure washing and drying?

    Here’s two pics for scale.

These trusses are very big and I have a lot of them. Each truss assembly is 16’ tall (wall height) and then the roof span is 36’ wide (23’ or so at the ridge). I have three more on a bump-out side room too. Don’t want to pressure wash and coat before metal because I won’t be able to see what...

Just use the rust arrestor on the rusty areas, I’m assuming? Could I spray it or… how should it be applied? Edit: looks like it could be sprayed if I choose to. Assuming this is what you’re recommending...

No time for that. I’m on a huge time crunch and have a lot of metal to clean then coat.

So, last option listed in OP that Sherwin Williams recommended? Yes, probably a Graco NOVA 390 corded.

I need some help folks and fast, please! I have a 2,220 sq ft shop that I've been building and the steel trusses unfortunately have had to sit in the weather for a number of years. They are in a basic primer that the manufacturer used and it would have been fine had I been able to get the...

A few update pics and drone shots. I got almost all of my wind bracing rods installed just before the high winds we had the other day. It's amazing how much those stiffen up the structure. It'll be solid as a rock once I get all of them in and all of my lumber installed. This is getting...

Got the rest of the metal up today. Added the covered awning over one garage door and five overhang pieces down the north wall (50x10 covered). Last metal that needs to go up is the wind bracing which I’ll do as soon as I can, possibly tomorrow.

Thank you! Yea, it really was a lot of concrete. We will pour some more later between the house and the shop eventually. We intend to build a covered area off the back deck and off the roof of the house connecting it to the covered awning over the left front garage door. It’ll be sweet! We...
