Small repeat mistakes indicative of a career change? Need advice...

I can say without reservation that "thinking things through" will help. Like the weld instructor in another post I made mistakes. When I was learning to run 5G and 6G in weld school the internal pressure to "keep up" got me nothing but more grinding and more grinding and more grinding. Once I...

Anyone have problems with Northern Tool?

Aside from flimsy shelves and a 31 bit drill set that wouldn't punch a hole through warm butter they are great. I guess I should have known better than to get a 31 piece set for $19 and expect the "titanium coated" bits would even perform as good as my trusty 15 yo set of B&D bits...which they...

Best way to cut a drum open?

If you could get access to a vehicle to put the drum in, a quick drive to the weld shop equipped with a plasma torch could make it an easy deal. Any welder/burner with balls enough to pierce a drum without purge gas gets what they gets.

Ideal garage space to restore farm tractor?

The 24x40 garage I built that my realtor claims is a three car garage quickly filled up with other stuff to the point that now I'm thinking about building a pole barn out back for the car, truck, mowers, tractor etc because even without all of the junk, tools, equipment, freezer, benches...

What to do about steep driveway and extra low sports car?

My Vette is 3" (maybe) off the ground in the front but my problem is scraping the floor pan leaving my drive which is worse than yours. Yours probably won't miss clearing that by much. If it were my car I'd modify the front dam slightly so it wouldn't scrape.

    Comfortable work shoes for mechanics

Red Wings. Avoid any shoe that has a glued molded sole though because it all comes apart long before the boot is worn out. I couldn't float the $300 this last time and opted for a $120 pair of Rockies (ignoring my own advice they have the molded soles) and when I'm wearing them at work, most of...

28 or 26' attic/storage truss, how much room for storage???(PICS)

I was "talked into" a 4' knee wall by my framer because it would add a lot of attic space...then he left the area after the first 8 rafters went up. As it stands right now the roof system is supported by columns but I would like to open it up. Will this design work if retrofitted to 24' wide...
