My bench is almost the same as the one above with the 4X4 posts. One suggestion for any bench that sees severve duty(oil spills hammer beatings, etc), double layer the top. I have 3/8 plywood on top with 1/2" plywood over that. When the 1/2" gets "worn down" I just unscrew it(6 screws around...
