Thanks, everyone, for the help. In the end I used 1.5 and 2 in angle iron from the scrap bin of a local supplier. Here are some pictures of my first welding project.

Yes, the pigs destroy everything. That's why I want to build this with steel instead of wood 2x4s like ive done in the past. To secure the drum we have a slick method of using webbing like a turnicate to strap it to the steel post of their fence. Works great.
