Why do Germans love Torx so much?

I was searching for a torx and hex bit socket set and this thread came up in the search. I have an older VW and an older MB, the MB is consistent with using e-torx, but the VW uses a little bit of everything for fasteners. I'm not a mechanic by trade, but have decent amount of experience...

What’s the best advice you’ve gotten regarding tools from GJ?

Tool brands like Wright and SK. I grew up in Ohio, and I had never heard of Wright Tools until I started checking out these forums.

Weekend warrior basic tool collection for car repair/maintenance

I think dave455 has given more/better info than I can, but I'm gonna give my 2 cents anyway. I'm an American living in Germany, and my other half is from near Sheffield and we visit England about twice a year. You said that made in USA, Europe or Japan is important to you...it is to me also...

    Abolox tools

Thanks for the info/reassurance. I got an email from them today, almost immediately after my inquiry. They said my order should ship tomorrow. Once again, thanks.

    Abolox tools

I ordered Wright Tool 3425, 3428 and 4425 ratchets from Abolox tools on May 16 and haven't received a status update about my order since the initial order confirmation. I have emailed several times asking about my order. Their prices on Wright Tool products are very good, but, now I'm...

Who sells U.S made needle nose locking pliers?

Times a trillion for me. I buy USA made whenever I can/they're available. Knipex makes needle nose visegrips...like here: https://www.ebay.com/p/5018529716 I have the 4144200 (Angled version) and the larger general purpose vise grips and had good experience with them. Knipex products seem...

    Decent Screwdriver Set

I have a set of Wiha Soft-Finish, slotted and Ph/Pz, they are the best fitting screwdrivers I have ever used, hands down. We do some antique furniture restoration which used many slotted heads (I think they should be banned...lol) and the Wihas always seem to grip/fit the slotted heads better...

    3/8 flex head ratchet

Thanks for the info bpjr. I think SK (45183) is the only DIYer choice for USA made flex head without detents...I just can't justify Snap-On/MAC/Matco prices as I'm not wrenching for a living. I'm prolly gonna pull the trigger on the Wright (3428) with nitril grip and the Wright (3425) fixed...

    3/8 flex head ratchet

Thanks for the info kbeefy, The MAC looks really nice, but it's pretty much Snappy prices. I live in Germany, and I thought Hazet would have a 3/8 drive flex head with more than 30/36 teeth in 2020, but I thought wrong. They have a 1/2" (916HPL) 92 teeth non-flex head that seems good quality...

    3/8 flex head ratchet

Thanks for all the info, I really appreciate it. OK...I'm a dumba$$ After further review, I think I found the info in this link here: https://aboloxtools.com/Wright-Tool-3428 and also on page 160 of the Wright Tool calalog, "seven place indexing flex head" including diagram. According to the...

    3/8 flex head ratchet

Thanks Negen, That's the info I was looking for. I think the Wright 3428 probably also has detents(can't find one review on it). Maybe I'll just get the Wright fixed head?

    3/8 flex head ratchet

Thanks for the info Macneil. I've heard great things about GW tools, but I'm looking for USA made. I think my options for a "Made in USA" 3/8 flex head without detents/locking mechanism are limited.

    3/8 flex head ratchet

I'm looking for a 3/8 flex head ratchet. After reading a lot of threads on here, I think no detents/non-locking is the best for me. I'm just a DIYer, and I prefer to buy new, so I can't justify Snap-On prices. USA made is very important to me. I'm still rocking USA Craftsman from the 90s (36...

    1/2" drive impact universal/swivel adapter

Thanks for all the advice. I received the shipment yesterday. I bought them from JBToolsales...in my situation(international shipping) I wouldn't use them again because it took about 3 weeks. But their prices are very competitive.

    rusty Hazet 450N wrenches

I cleaned them off with an oily rag and put desiccant in all drawers of my toolbox. The desiccant seems to be doing the trick. Thanks for the advice.
