The original plan was to have this restored in time to put it up for sale at the town’s Vintage Faire, which is tomorrow, and then donate that money to the fund to rebuild the historic Butte Creek Mill. Of course things have taken longer than planned and I will not meet that deadline. The drill...
Those are a couple cool photos. Here is another engine restoration stand that is circular similar to the ones in the photos above. It would be interesting if you find one for a hexagonal radial engine.

Good suggestion, thanks. Of course it is speculation as to exactly how they looked on the Sears showroom floor in 1942. Spray can in satin or semi-gloss would have been better, especially for the smaller parts. Brushing enamel on the larger cast iron pieces was pretty easy though.
Mixed 2 oz...
I think you may be onto something. Photo from https://oldmachinepress.com/category/aircraft-engines/world-war-ii/
Another article from Old Machine Press "The selected design was a rather unusual 12-cylinder engine that Curtiss referred to as a “hexagon” configuration. This engine was built as...
Heads up, the CL drill press nut case is still on the loose. Same drill press for sale now in Chico. That drill press gets around, third city now that I have seen it posted in. Seller also has another listing in Chico for a newer Sears, $199. I recognize the same garage door behind the drill...
Now onto my decision on what paint color to use. I really like the patina of old tools but this had too much rust to keep that as an option. I had 5 choices written down based on other GJ restorations and want to keep as original as possible. While some match fairly close, like dark machine...
Yours is a different color than mine. Much more blue. It looks to be the same as the one macgee posted photos of on Adrian's restoration thread.

Quick update. Slow but steady progress. OldeTime, got the chuck back. Looks great and feels 100 times better than before. Thanks again.
Prep has been taking way longer than I thought as one thing leads to another… Like the Evapo-rust treatment on the sheet metal pulley guard peeled off some of...
Thanks for scanning and uploading that. Good resource. You show a green cover handbook that is revised 1954. The link gets me to one with a red cover, long C logo and is copyright 1950. Do you have the 1954 version or a link?

Anyone who needs one, PM me your address and I will put one in the mail. I should get my order later this week.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had a feeling it would not look pretty inside. I have complete confidence that you did a great job on the restore. Attached is the real before photo as I had done some exterior cleanup before it got to you. OldeTime, thanks again for your assistance.
Let's hope it is legit and that someone down there can save this old drill press. "Maybe more of a nostalgia piece or the beginning of a cool shop lamp?" Really? It appears to be in pretty decent condition.
Looks like this guy has moved further north in CA and increased his asking price quite a bit. This is on CL in Redding for $350! Look familiar? Does this sound familiar? "Nice drill press with a speed reducer. I can trade for a nice anvil, big or small."...
