I'm finishing up restoring an Atlas model 63 drill press. As I was replacing the quill/spindle bearings I forgot to place the spacer cylinder sleeve back on the spindle between the bearings. Is this spacer necessary? Trying to decide if I need to take apart and add spacer or if I can use without.
