    H. J. Hamlet - tool maker

Interesting how Hamlet was known for pilings and a piles (hemorrhoids) ointment. Here is today's find, the first Hamlet tool I have that is marked. It is fairly recent production based on the red handles, but isn't listed on the Hamlet website. I call it an eagle beak notcher. It is 11" long.

    Samson wrenches (not Lever-Jaws).

I found a 1/2 x 9/16 DOE Samson wrench in a .25 box at a swap meet this weekend. Almost tappet wrench thin, 6 3/8"OAL, 3/16" thick on the ends, and not finely polished. Forged number OE202. The stampings are shallow and uneven, making me think it was made under contract. Reminded me of a Barcalo.

    The Eastwood QST-30/60

Made in China is a deal-breaker for me. I have too much pride to spend that kind of money there... Politics, human rights, child labor, abuse, on and on... C'mon Eastwood, at least try.

Epstein has the 1/4 and 3/8 rebuild cartridges and ratchets.

Blue craftsman speed ratchet ruined by poor shipping.

It's now an opportunity to customize! Someone with a mill, lathe, and welder could take it apart, make any kind of handle- stock or custom; polish and replate everything, and have the coolest one ever made.
