steel cutting circular saw blades; anyone used one???

I have cut steel plate in thicknesses up to 1/2" with the Diablo Cermet Steel Demon Ferrous Metal Cutting Saw Blade from H Depot. Amazing excellent cuts and very little burr. Used in an old Craftsman circular saw. Cut all my work bench top steel and several smaller projects. No problem for the...

How to seal a garage door better?

I bought the Green Hinges as well after a previous GJ discussion. $65 and 30 min work and it couldn't better. Keeps a light tension against the side seal flaps perfectly. Takes the slack out of the rollers in the track.

    Jolted :/

After retirement from the aforementioned career I bought a newer home. The place seemed in very reasonable condition with some recent upgrades. After getting settled I began to explore the utilities to become acquainted with the layout, etc. Made my way to the attic for an insulation assessment...

    Jolted :/

bd reminds me of an incident in my early days in my career job after serving as an USAF A&E tech. I was a new equipment check out tech at a large manf plant. One particular product was a power supply for a microwave transmit tube requiring filament and 5000 volts plate supply. I went over to see...

    Toughest rattle can paint?

For important things I use Rustoleum paints followed by baking in an oven at 150 to 200° for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Turn off the heat and letting it cool down inside helps as well. Once cooled the solvent smell is gone and the finish is tough and ready to use. When a part is too big a corrugated...

Air Compressor NPT fiting education needed

TT, check the country of origin of the compressor. They threads may be BSP. The default world "metric" standard. Not quite the same a NPT. I ran into this once.

    Vintage Delta Band Saw?

That is a wood only. The missing lube cup on the casting foot gives it away. Excellent price. I restored a wood/metal 14" last year. Excellent saws. New wheel tires are available. RichD

    Sewage odor from plumbing

The home I have now had a terrible septic odor in the back yard whenever the breeze blew a certain way. It's on city sewer and happens to be at a hill top. I suppose my plumbing is collecting gas from the lower elevations and passing it thru and out. Research on the net suggests vents should be...

    Post your Garage Cat here

My buddy Sushi. A stray from a neighbor that likes the menu here better. She hung around so much I decided to feed her. Strictly a barn cat and a champion mouser and what ever else she finds around the property. My mouse & chipmunk problem was taken care of very quickly, hence the name Sushi...

    Tapcon screw problems

A fix I have used a few times on stripped holes, mostly in CMU, is to drop a length of large size plastic grass whip in the hole and drive in the screw. Never a failure yet. Always use a high torque drill. No hammer action. RichD

Cyclone Separator for Shop Vac, Compact Setup

I just finished adding a cyclone separator to the HF blast cabinet. A test run of ten minutes with glass bead produced a cup of dust in the separator bucket, but NOTHING in the vac! Previously I had to empty and clean the vac filter often to keep the cabinet from blowing dust out the vent. I'm...

    Gutter Guard question

House I bought here, Canton, Ga, is surrounded with red oak, white oak and long leaf pine. Came with "Gutter Guard (Helmet)". The oak leaves are large and stiff and many find a way to get hung in the slot. Acorns also get jammed in the slot. A pain in the posterior to clear all the debri. Pine...

So, my compressor locked up, now what?

Along these lines, a compressor is only as good as its air filtration. Always room for improvement over the OEM unit. Keep them clean. Rich, Canton, Ga

    Green Hinge

I just installed a set on a double wide aluminum door. I missed the note about ordering commercial type, but turns out for my light weight door they perform perfectly. Had some windy weather recently here in NW Georgia. Doors stayed tight to the seals. No noticeable additional load on the...
