Happy new year's key and all folks. kc I left off after laying down at least 5 coats of the red we put in mention. Initially the bug bit me and I wanted to aim for the best job I could. Funny how that usually tends to happen with everything I work on at some point. But as you pointed out...

    PPG Break-Through! brush application?

I can't even work with it unless I thin it down. Its one of my favorite conventional go to paints so I have a fair bit of experience with using it over the years. In my experiences it usually takes a full day to day and a half to fully dry. But up to a week to 10 days to cure and become hard...

    PPG Break-Through! brush application?

Yes go quite thin. As thin as you have the patience for the better. IMHO the thinnest you can go without compressed air is with dense foam rollers. They allow you to control the amount of paint that lays down by how hard/soft you compress the roll. What I like to do is load the roll up then roll...

    PPG Break-Through! brush application?

In your particular case you just have to find the happy mediums. A touch too much might adversely effect what your aiming for. And temps and humidity got to be close to a happy medium as well. A bit too much heat can go disastrously horrible and the same goes for thinning solution. A touch too...

    PPG Break-Through! brush application?

Adding more thining solution will alleviate it and give you ample time to blend the paint as your following up. And try to stay consistent by loading the brush with the same amount before each pass. That too will show. More and less and depending on the paint. It all behaves a little differently...

It is. Upon the first time seeing it in my natural vision, burgundy came to mind before red did. Both red and burgundy's are nice colours. For those who can not decide between red and black. It looks pretty nice on cars and trucks too imho. I don't want to stray far off topic. I was watching a...

Its still not photograph ready cutter. I kept having to remove in order to perform other steps. And since I mixed too much red I lay a fresh coat every couple days, since there is time for it and it made sense. After 3 coats it looks like its getting some depth and a decent finish. Or maybe my...

Getting best hammered finish from Rustoleum rattlecan?

The Tremclad and companies mix up well. I use a ratio of about 70/30 thinner. And toned up the grey a bit. I need to try for an orange I can live with. I wasn't that fond of their red until said and done. Then I figured I midas well slash on a 3rd coat because the doors had to come back off...

Getting best hammered finish from Rustoleum rattlecan?

I apply those methods too. Weather applying by brush rolls or air. Its thick stuff and starts tacking pretty quickly. But takes a while to dry and then fully cure hard. Longer than most paints do to fully cure and harden under normal circumstances. I started using a space heater in a broom...

Getting best hammered finish from Rustoleum rattlecan?

I hate when a company discontinues a favorite. You should give the Canadian parent company Tremclad rust paint corporation a try. Rustolium is the same paint product. Its just branded differently for the American market. I have had success by doing so (in the opposite direction). I really like...

Are Fluke Multimeters Worth The Substantial Extra Money?

I'm a firm believer in buying something once knowing it always costs more. In the short or long run to me its worth doing so in most instances. Your paying for quality and reliability obviously. But also the ease of getting customer service when it does become needed. As pointed out prior. I...

    Titebond 3

If non water resistant glues and wood swelling is a concern. Will 3 or 4 coats of a polyurethane not alleviate potential problems on both points? Although oars get a fair bit of abuse during normal usage. ie scraping along bottom and contacting rocks. If the poly gets scratched off that can...

A single wheel scale with two 2x4's and two clamps would get you close to feeling out a precise number. Who has that type of scale on hand is a better question.

Paint Over Old Two Part Epoxy?

Also agreed. Good rep measures are the most important thing. If its done well some epoxy bonds will virtually last forever. Providing there is minimal to no UV exposure.

So far the construction adhesive I used on my flag pole hasn't failed. Its directly exposed. Good for glue sub outdoors. And +1. Keep squeezing the clamps until you have adequate glue squeeze out. And adequate contact surface visually.
