Who wants to help design my garage?

In my area any permanent structure has to be a minimum of 40' from your well at its nearest point. You may want to check your zoning before you go too far.

Purchasing my first home, with garage!

If you have adequate electrical service to the building, consider roughing in for baseboard heaters when you are insulating. You can turn those on just while you are in the building and if it is insulated it will warm up nicely.

Real Estate: Multiple owners within short period of time

When was the home built? Those first three earliest sales could be the subdivision and sale of the lot, with the third being the sale after the house was newly built. Then after that it looks pretty average in term of the number of sales (changed hands twice in 10 years and on the market again...

    High garage estimates WOW!!

$70k sounds about right to me. You are running gas, electrical, and plumbing to your building, and requesting a brick veneer. Those are expensive trades, and I bet those items explain at least $20-$30k of your estimate right there.

    Need some Roofing Advice

Decide on the grade of shingles (and system) you want and get the guys to all bid the same material. That will make it easier to decide. Roofing is generally a very competitive business so your bids should be pretty tight. Personally your first bid sounds high to me, but I don't live in CA...

Woodshop + 2 Cars in 22x24 - Here we go!

Nice drill press. I like it. I would be a little worried that the rain that falls on (and through) your deck onto the roof of your shed is pitched back and falls right down onto the ground by your foundation. Over time that could cause trouble or in a big heavy rainstorm you could get water...

    Bigger Garage door

You almost certainly have a big header right above your door opening that carries all of the structure above the door. That would need to be moved up, which can be done if there is room above it in the wall, but it isn't a project for a novice. If it isn't a gable end door, the header is...

    5qt Mobil 1 "synthetic" $27 at Walmart - $12 rebate = $15

I think they do but Amazon's prices aren't competitive because you either have to pay shipping or they build in shipping into the free shipping/Prime price. Still cheaper to get it from Walmart and Walmart (at least in my area) has free shipping on purchases over $35.

    Father Son Projects

My son is also three. He loves "helping" with just about anything I am working on. I think he's a little young to really take on a project at this point; that will come later when he's a little older. For the time being he is just very happy being around me when I'm doing a brake job or...

    28 x 28 garage build

Very nice. So that's a "posted foundation," correct? What grade of pressure treated 6x6 did you use, and what kind of footing did you put under the posts? Also, what was the spacing of your posts? Thanks for posting this! I've been thinking about this kind of foundation for some time so...
