2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

I have that same clamp meter, I think I got it at the ol' Homier Tent Sale ages ago. Like you, I bought it as a "disposable", and it's still going all these years later. It's not a half bad meter for a cheapie.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Make a bracket to wall-mount a soundbar under my TV. Cut some L steel from an old shelf, drilled holes to mount the soundbar, some more holes for the studs, then hung it in a tree and spray painted it black. It's still out there twirling in the breeze.

Well, at least that wire wasn't hidden with chinese copper spray paint, lol. You could tell it was aluminum by looking at it. I guess I should have said, "back in my day, copper-colored wire was solid copper!"

Decided to see why my aux lights stopped working on my truck. All the wiring looked good, fuse is good, power to the relay, relay clicks, output of relay good, still no lights? Wiring to each light looks good... Hmm... Pulled on the ground to check, wire just comes out of crimp. I go to strip it...

In the carport attached to the small garage- Decided to take my old explorer to town, as it hasn't been driven in a month or two. Opened the hood to check the fluids, and a 12" round chew-circle in the under-hood insulation caught my eye. Damn squirrels! My aux lights aren't working either...

    Light bulbs for attics

In my old house's attic, when I rewired it, I just put in fluorescent shoplights. It was a million degrees up there and they worked every time I needed them.

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

Made up a bag of misc "dirty but good" screwdrivers from a big tub at a yard sale. Got a few Whia 1000v insulated, some Klein, and some Xcelite (even a beryllium driver). $0.25 ea (sorry for the **** pic) A little crusty, but no engravings, they'll clean up nice. Took a gamble on some speakers...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Its weird how some aspects of my hand strength returned pretty quickly (like closed-fist grip strength, lift strength, etc) but things like individual finger strength are totally gone. Like it would be a real challenge to press a spray can nozzle right now. And things that require finess are...

Took my wife's Worx weed eater apart to see why it stopped working. Ahh, one of the wires broke off the motor inside the head. Soldered it back.on, put it back together and she's back in business. ***** trying to do stuff after carpal tunnel surgery. Gotta take it slow...

    The Shape Of Tomorrow

2 years ago, we bought this house out in the boonies because it was cheap. We weren't really planning on moving, we just thought it would be a good investment (as we have had experience fixing up disaster houses before). After a year of working on it, we decided to move into it. Long story...

Took out my frustrations on my scrap pile. Tore down some old electronics, harvested parts, copper, aluminum, some sheet steel, etc.

But it's not leaking out of the handle, it's leaking out of the spout. Isn't the packing washer for handle leaks? I don't really know anything about rebuilding faucets, and this one isn't branded, it was just a hail-mary shot at it. None of the rebuild kits at the store looked even remotely...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Pulled the guts out of my frost-free hose bib on the house, then took it into the garage to refresh it. Replaced all the o-rings, and had to run to the hardware store to get a weird packing nut that I didn't have in my stock. Surprise, they didn't have it either. But I found a "bathtub" packing...
